I mean... theists cherry pick their holy books, anyways, right - every theists thinks that they're going to heaven because the way they practice their faith is exactly as they believe they need to in order to get to heaven. I struggle to imagine the person who simultaneously believes a hell exists, with complete sincerity and conviction, and yet also behaves in a way that doesn't meet their own personal requirement for not going to hell.

Exactly. If I were ever to believe in God and heaven and hell then I would spend every living minute trying to get to heaven and avoid hell. Speaking as a Bible Christian - It scares me for the people I know who might go... I definitely won't. It does a little bit but not much. There is no fate worse than Hell. I do believe in Jesus and I am working on being more obedient to him so I'm not too worried about going to Hell. However the thought is still unpleasant and it would be arrogant to believe just because I repented once and got baptized that I am saved. True repentance is a life long process as we WILL still struggle with sin even after finding Jesus. Also, if your walk with Jesus is based on the fear of Hell instead of true love and faith in Jesus then your faith is misguided.

However, the Bible is clear on this. A Muslim might believe in their faith as fiercely as I do mine, but anyone who trusts their faith must also believe what their faith text says. Nobody knows who is right until we die, hence why we call it faith. I love my Muslim brethren as I do all others, but as far as my Bible goes the fate of those who follow Islam is the same as an athiest.

Maybe I should. But I have a hard time believing a loving God would send me to hell. My heart is open. So if I expire and he feels I never knew him. Then I didn't really reject him. I just clearly didn't get the message. The Bible says "ask and it'll be revealed to you". But faith in life isn't a constant.
