What you are talking about is Gnostic tradition. You are taking a demonic ability and implying man has those abilities too. Such spirits are unclean (Matthew 12:43-45). These are not souls of other people.
--Gnostics believe that souls are all that is spiritual and with special knowing can exit body and head back to Soul space. Souls do not telepathically communicate. This is false teaching as our bodies are also glorified in heaven too.
—Hebrews 9:27 says it is appointed unto man once to die while (James 2:26) says a body without the spirit is dead. Once one dies, the SPIRIT OF A MAN does not roam around, have powers to contract with other souls, or move into another body.

Only if you are a demon or fallen angel can one possess another body. Plenty Biblical examples of demons being removed from Beings to demons going into animals (pigs).
