Well as a retired Soldier with all my experiences a good death to me is one in which I died with my sword drawn, face to the enemy, screaming defiance with my last breath. So that did not happen and but I still live by the same mantra, which is live every day to the fullest, without compromising myself or my own happiness.

Death well death is the easiest thing you can do... at some point we all have to surrender to our fate... and if you do not believe in fate one thing is absolutely true we all must die at some point. After all the living I have done, death means nothing to me. When death comes to me I will greet him as an old friend, that I often cheated and long avoided.

What does it mean to die... well it could mean nothing or it could mean everything. I choose to believe there is an after life, and I live every day in the hope that there is one... but if there is not one then I lose nothing in living the best life possible while I can in the hopes that there is one.

I think everyone would like to believe that death means something more and your life will not pass completely unnoticed... but true it that this happens every day to people and that does not mean its all without meaning. Your life only has meaning as long as you make it about living with purpose... you can not give your life purpose by simply dyeing.

My greatest fear is that I will out live all the people who ever cared for me, and I will die alone. I would rather go out in blast of glory.

I really don't know how to answer that. I don't know if I can think of such thing as a good death. I'd rather not die unless I was suffering so greatly that the alternative started to look good. For example, if I had like stage four colon cancer and I was literally vomiting my own excrement, death would probably start looking like a release for me.

I suppose if I had to die and I believed in the notion of dying well then I'd have to go with dying in defense of my family and friends. I care very much for my family and small group of friends. Quality over quantity in my opinion.

Based on the other answers, it seems I misunderstood the question. When I thought of a good death I immediately thought of warriors dying in battle in defense of their homeland in an honorable way. My mistake. So yeah, dying in my sleep after a long life seems like the best way to go in my opinion.

It depends on the situation in my opinion. For most people, dying a good death would probably be dying with few/no regrets after living the most meaningful life you could. This could be a "movie" death of giving your life for something greater or simple dying knowing you loved and were loved. If life was harsh and people are dying horrible deaths, sometimes the best death is knowing someone will suffer less. Dying can make you lucky like that.

My grandma died of a heart attack in her sleep after a night of playing Mah Jong with family who loved and adored her, and had no painful health conditions prior to her death, I don’t know if it was an easy death, but it was a quick one.

Sorry to hear that, but I guess some may say that is a great way to pass on? That is loved and happy. At least she was surrounded by family.

    A quiet, peaceful death.

If not the above circumstances, then a quick death is good enough too.

A bad death is one where you lie in the hospital for a really prolonged period of time, having regular operations, regular therapies, etc.

The transition from being alive to death for our brain itself is not the problem as it is peaceful enough in any situation.

The problem is the path taken leading to the initiation of this transition. When we are conscious or unconscious.

    I believe.

    In order:

Defending/protecting family or loved ones especially my kids

    Peacefully in my sleep

Doing what's right in a given situation (taking on a mugger or some other hypothetical)

After finishing a wild night of sex but when I'm much older (I mean come on lol)

One that is a fulfilled life. One that is pleasing to God. One that at the end you can honestly say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith".

I fear death as much as any other mortal man. But when people ask me how long I think I'll live I always respond "As long as the good lord wants me to and not one second more". I only pray that God give me the strength to die as I have lived.

They’re basing their claims and beliefs on a fairytale, a book of rules, and a man they met yet no one else has. I am looking at literal ways my claim hurts girls and women and how they negatively affected them when women were property. I look at the person, religion is about control

The root of the issue was that women were considered property, couldn’t work, own property, vote, etc. So that social construct of women depending on men were created by men. The issue with that was I highly doubt those women wanted to depend on men for everything. Women had no rights to anything; their lives, bodies, virginity, future, etc. They were sold off to old men at age 13 probably even younger than that.

I would rather it be her choice to depend on herself rather than a man and if she does decide to depend on a man it be her choice not her being forced into it for stability

@hIopinionated_ OK but that is no longer the case in modern Western culture. If she wants to be with a particular man then that is her choice. A friend of mine banged some guy in his 60's when she was 21. No relationship, just a quick fuck on the spur of the moment. Was she somehow exploited or treated as property? She didn't seem to think so. What disgusts you doesn't necessarily hold for everyone.

Cause and effect. After women gained rights to themselves, had the right to earn money, vote, etc. those laws didn’t happen instantly. Women were still conditioned by gender roles and were discriminated against in work places, earned less wages than men, men didn’t want to hire women forcing them back into the homes to be servant to men and have babies. And even job that did hire women, they were based on gender roles, taking care of children, teachers, sewing, clothes related, etc.

Women had to rebel to be able to show skin because it was taboo for women to act unladylike. Oh a ladies doesn’t talk back, she doesn’t temp men, she covers up, and she’s agreeable so these fathers are teaching their young daughters to be that way, to be a good wife and hold no authority over men. Most men were sexist and thought it was crazy for a woman to vote

@hIopinionated_ But it's 2022, not 1922 - in fact the first presidential election women could vote in was in 1920, over a hundred years ago (and they elected Warren G. Harding, a good-looking but abysmally ignorant and corrupt man, a rather inauspicious start). More women than men are in college. You almost seem to be arguing that young women can't be trusted to choose what relationships to pursue, and want to limit them to narrow, SOCIALLY-defined categories of men who are "appropriate" for them.

It may be 2022 but again, 1922 and beyond that still shaped society today (2022). Ever wonder where gender roles came from? Men who made them up. If 1922 or beyond that didn’t matter, there would be no such thing as gender roles that were created centuries ago

I guess in a way I am saying women are incapable of choosing men. Society has been shaped to be this way, sure women fought but we aren’t 100% there yet. Probably will never be. And it’s horrible to say women can’t make these decisions but we’ve all been brainwashed, men as well. So Older men dating teens and younger women is in fact a tradition.

@hIopinionated_ So now it's the fault of fathers? What about mothers? From what I've seen they are more concerned about their daughters behavior than fathers (except when it comes to sex). My point is, there is no call to label something "exploitation" if it is entered into by free will.

But anyway, here's something for you:

Today mothers are at fault as well. Both are. I mentioned fathers because men owned both mother and child, mothers had no rights to the child

But overall, I view it as misguiding a child and more dramatically, child abuse. They are setting their children up for failure

@hIopinionated_ once you are 18 years old it doesn't matter if the other person is theoretically a billion years old. Once you are an adult you are ready for sex and you are even ready to lay down your life for your country.

No being 18 is normalized for sex because the government says it is. Pedophiles will gladly pray on these teenagers to groom them because they know they’re easier to control. Of Course it depends on the individual but most times, the 18 year old is inexperienced

@hIopinionated_ Pedophiles aren't interested in 18 year olds, unless they are somehow developmentally arrested in physical appearance. A pedophile by definition is attracted to someone who has not completed puberty, which pretty much all 18 year olds have done. In fact it generally refers to those who are attracted to those who haven't started puberty.

Yeah.. weird that she is claiming anything involved with an 18-year-old is supposedly prepubescent lol. People throwing the word "pedophile" around don't even know what it means 🤣

Why would an old man be interested in a girl much older than him? Doesn’t make sense. What does make sense however, historically how 13 year olds were forced to marry 30 year olds and if you’re too ignorant to understand the causes and effects of that TODAY, you’re purposefully being ignorant to justify the sexist reasons it even became a thing and why it’s still a thing today. Sure the girl isn’t a 13 or whatever but it’s still the same thing with a 23 year dating a 40 year old. Things like that is normalized for a reason. Same with being attracted to body types similar to children. You can all pretend there are no root and steps to pedophilia all you wish but it’s obvious you’re just like that

@hIopinionated_ conflating liking an 18-year-old to liking a prepubescent girl is very creepy in my opinion.

Deflection. Typical. Anything to pretend you aren’t understanding the historical connection to older man liking and having sex with teens and younger women

It isn’t very hard considering you can’t seem comprehend cause and effect. Knowing what it is, how it works, what it had and does to the society in the past and present, etc you would understand what I am talking about but you don’t
