Do you think it’s possible that John the Apostle wrote his Gospel in his nineties?

St John the Apostle lived 6AD-100AD, making him 94 upon his death. His Gospel is said to be written between 90AD-110AD (obviously it couldn’t be written after his death). Do you think he would’ve written it in his late years or do you think historians got the estimation wrong?

Possible, but unlikely; the apostle probably wasn't the one who wrote it. It's written in what's (supposedly) very good Greek, which is not something an Aramaic-speaking poor fisherman would likely be able to do.

The actual names of the writers of the Gospels are unknown. And the majority of New Testament scholars believe that Matthew and Luke are substantially based on the gospel of Mark. Many scholars also believe that John or copied from Luke. Taking all that into consideration and the supposed age of John, my answer is "No".

There actually is no clear evidence it was John the Apostle who wrote any of it. It is likely a mishmash of various people down the years who have adapted it.

It's possible. Or he could also have dictated while a secretary wrote it down, as there's always the possibility that John may not have known how to write.

I agree older people do have great memories. My wife's grandmother was 103 and she had an excellent memory to the day she died.

Don't know the age, but won't matter anyways. The Holy Spirit was the one guiding them what to record and write down.

All canonical gospels were written 50 years after Yeshua ascended. Very possible.
