Why do I get shit for being an atheist but it's not such a big deal for guys?

Literally at school, the topic of religion came up and I said I am an atheist, and everyone just stared blankly at me, but when my friend said he's also one, they just said "cool" and continued the conversation. My friend and I were both dumbfounded

Like I'd bet there were other females in class that feel exactly like you and they just lied their ass off. It wouldn't be any different than you being in a liberal suburban area and saying you think Jesus is your lord and savior.

I know plenty of women who are atheist, pagan, agnostic, religious but not judgmental etc... keep speaking your truth and those who are good with you being who you want to be will find you...

I see. In that case you should probably just bide your time and get what you can out of it. There's no point in upsetting everyone around you. I assume they aren't forcing you to pray. Then plan to move elsewhere. Are you planning on going to college?
