Protestantism is not a singular denomination. It may have started out so, but Luther's followers kept fracturing off from each other over and over and over again to the point that there are now 40,000 (and counting) different churches.
At any rate, the question you should be asking is whether a given church is true rather than cool. If you look into history and the claims that are made, you'd see that the answer can only be found in the Catholic Church.
Protestantism is NOT a denomination. A protestant denomination, is one that split off from Catholicism. Examples are: United Church, Episcopal, Church Of England, Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Amish, Mennonite, Quakers, Hutterites, etc., etc. There are at least hundreds of different denominations (types) of Protestant religions... they are "Protesting" the Catholic Church. Martin Luther originally wanted to help reform the Catholic Church, but they said no, so he started his own version of Christianity he thought would work better.
If you follow Jesus, then you don't need a church, or religion.

There's such a huge variety of denominations within Protestantism. From extremely conservative to extremely liberal, from traditional to modern, from strict to loose. Its hard to say without knowing more.
AKA The Reformed tradition. Mainstream Reform Christianity (like the UCC and PCUS) have become totally corrupted. Catholics are right behind, but electing a new pope can change things for them.
Protestantism has many denominations :)
I personally love being a part of the Reformed Baptist denomination.
Protestantism has many denominations, and subgroups within denominations. Some are great. Others are, honestly, silly.
