It doesn't matter I know some sick religious people that have done some disgusting things and they use the Bible in the name of God in Jesus to belittle other people for what they might have done
But they used the Bible in their religion to say it's okay for what they have done I think it's disgusting
It doesn't matter if people have religion or don't have religion morals values and ethics come from within on who you are
You can't put a group of people together
And said one has more morals values and ethics than the other group does
It's based on individually
belittling? just opinion. if that is immoral then stop belittling religious people... you immoral hypocrites. if bible allowed how can it be immoral?
Well maybe you should read it again that's not what I said
I was just answering the question
Morals don't come from religion they come from within
The people use religion to do the things to do sins that they know is wrong but they make it okay because the religion forgives them
As for me I could care less what people do
We all have a choice on who we want to be in life are the things we say and do
As long as it doesn't affect me my friends my family people I care about I don't really care
Not unless someone is hurting an elderly person a child or a pet or a female or anybody that cannot protect themselves that's when I care
The video dimwit fails his own assertion in the first few minutes. We're talking "morals" not "compassion" or "empathy".
Serial killers display compassion and empathy to certain people and animals from time to time. But they can never be moral.
As atheist cannot be "moral" as he denies the religious basis from with morality stems. It's like someone claiming they love white chocolate, but hate chocolate. White chocolate isn't even chocolate, it's vanilla flavouring and cocoa butter.
It's no wonder so called "humanists" and atheists fall into the same categories as antivaxxers and flat earthers. It's opinions, and feelings they are working on, while deluding others to their machinations, so they feel less alone and silly.
you would think religious people would be more moral since they know what's right and wrong... but that can be subjective... it's really more about character... i can be religious and say someone is going to hell and be judgmental... but the only one who can judge is god... it's really a loaded question and not to easy to answer as you'd think.
Non-religious.
They don't need the threat of "eternal damnation" to be moral, they just are moral.
it depends how to define moral. if evil means harming, then athiests and "non religious" try to justify harming a human fetus, so calling themselves moral is error and wrong. they think they are moral but failed to define morality.
the claim "they are" shows you never watch the news unless you think all criminals are religious? criminals are NOT moral and are motivated by atheism "i won't get punished".
having a book said do not murder does not prove "we would if we were allowed". from every angle.

From what I've seen, the non-religious!! I've been anti-religion for at least half a century and I'd NEVER even THINK about doing to my siblings what my holier than thou, bible-thumping ex-sister did to me 4 years ago!!
I'm ALWAYS hearing horror stories about people that went to religious schools and were brought up in religious families!! A good example is at least the first half of the movie, "Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit". Because of their STUPID fucking beliefs, they nearly LET a little girl DIE and then acted like it was a wonderful thing that god did!! What a bunch of fucking PSYCHOS!! I'm SOOOO glad I'm not in any of those cults!!
I have NO USE for ANY religion yet, I'm always doing nice things for people!!
was that about mormon blood transfusion? that would not describe other religions. not even other Christians
@strateguy632 I have no idea what that is.
First, you would need to define "moral" in a way that could be objectively measured, because subjective evaluations will have inherent biases either for against Christianity. Many users are responding on the basis of religious people who did ridiculous and absurd things, but examples do not prove anything about the entire group. I know physicians who are greedy and incompetent, but that doesn't mean they are all greedy and incompetent.
Yeah I think that's why the guy in the video used so many examples and specifically said, (at 4:00 mark) "you can always find an amazing moral religious person , and an amazing moral secular person, and you can find scoundrels on both sides." and then goes on to demonstrate larger patterns in populations rather than specific individuals.
@zeitgeist057 I did not watch the video but I don't think, as a whole, that Christians in my area are less moral than atheists.
yeah, he talks about anecdotal logic in the video as well, and then backs his argument up with more rational statistical data.
this goes down to the individual...
and not about generalizing large and vast groups of people...
even by my personal experience... some of the GREATEST people in my life, are people of faith but there is also other AS great who are not religious at all
and viceversa... when it comes to the worst of what I've seen in some people, lol
look at the harmful criminals, isolate those, all openly atheist. and relying on atheism.
@strateguy632 look at all those priests/pedophiles in all those Churches around the world...
the only reason why they are not in jail as the criminals they are.. is because religious institutions protect them all to the last of their efforts
@strateguy632 I don't think you got your facts straight, bro. You can look anywhere at statistics and see that the most violent criminal populations in prison are always majority religious. Also, people who are poor, suffering, the lowest and less educated they are, the more likely to be religious.
Non-religious. Religious people can be moral and generally. However any morals they have are from the religion. Non religious people that are morally centered had to come up with what morals they follow themselves meaning those morals have far more weight on that person's life because those morals resonate with you.
except due to self definition caused each one considered self moral , while actually doing stuff that others considered immoral or evil.
@strateguy632 the question is in relation to moral people so the presumption is that it applies to morally just people. so yes it is plausible that they think are moral but not moral but the question and answer were about morally just people not the exceptions.
I think its equal, its much more your nature than it is to follow someone elses moral code. If you are a moral person it won't matter if you are religious or not, and many people who do follow religious morals who are not actually moral are faking it.
Neither. Religion is being replaced by political agendas. Where politicians and activists are the priests and prophets. You wanna see a new era inquisition look at JK rowling being burned at the stake for talking common sense about a man not being in a female fitting room. If jk rowling was a poor woman she would have suffered after that losing her job and being broke. But because she is a billionare she survived that
The belief structure between the religious and non-religious is different, therefor how they come to the conclusion of what is moral and not moral is different. If we are talking about Christianity, sometimes the non-religious act more Christian then the Christians do. And sometimes Christians will act more non-religious then the non-religious do. Life is hard, and all you can do is do the best you can. As a believer in Jesus, I try to follow the bible. But sometimes I get lost in interpretations. Sometimes when hard things happen, and I need to forgive someone that wronged me, it isn't easy. You just never know what life is going to throw at you, or how you are going to react when it happens. I do not know why some religious people are jerks. I was on a three different Christian forums and I left two of them because I didn't like how they were treating me. And I could give you plenty of negative examples like that.
if we define evil as breaking someone else's window, than anyone harming a human fetus or trying to justify it, is far worse than breaking a window, and by this immoral. 2, similarly among violaters of laws i don't mean red light and parking laws but the severe harmful criminals are non-religious. and as someone pointed out terrorist are muslim but not most of muslims.
Atheism is a religion. It was first recognized as a state religion as the Cult of Reason in France. It is officially recognized as a religion by the Supreme Court of the United States.
Aethism is when you know God is in the world, and you make an active choice to deny God. Atheism is a religion that strives to counter another religion thus the a- prefix. The Cult of Reason rose in France in opposition to Christianity, more specifically to Catholicism. It's anthropocentrism... That is to say, they reject God and see themselves as the most important thing in the world. In the true nature of a narcissist they think they are God. This is why you see WEF spokesmen like Yuval Noah Harari talking about becoming Gods... It's like the classic struggle of Lucifer wanting to become God... “I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High”...
@rigmarole that makes no sense but okay boomer
@rigmarole "Aethism is when you know God is in the world, and you make an active choice to deny God" Again, this is 100% wrong and just shows you know nothing about Atheism lol
@Talea You're a useful idiot just like all other cult members...

Diderot and d’Alembert Encyclopédie
Atheism: the opinion of those who deny the existence of a God in the world. The simple ignorance of God doesn't constitute atheism. To be charged with the odious title of atheism one must have the notion of God and reject it.
That is to you must understand God is in the world, and then knowing that, deny his authority over you. You must reject God's love for you. You must turn your back on God. You must rebuke God. That's what it means to be an atheist otherwise known as an anti-theist. You have chosen to go to the darkness and go to war with God. Your goal is to destroy God. This is why atheist of the Cult of Reason burned churches in the French Revolution and mass murdered Christians and Jews. You just as Lucifer want to be a Godhead. "I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High”. What you believe, perfectly lines up with Satanism.
@Talea You truly meet the definition of an imbecile. You've been proven wrong with facts. You've been proven ignorant of your religion's history and content. You've been proven incapable of learning when you are provided with information. You're religion has been exposed for what it is. Your moral flaws have been exposed for what they are. You're an evil person that can't tell the truth and can only perpetuate lies. You're worthless.
You need a religious framework in order to justify your moral system. Not in order to make moral decisions, but in order to justify the system itself. Thus, it is nonsensical to say that a non religious belief system is more moral than a religious belief system.
My experience has been that more religious people tend to be quite hypocritical. They talk a good story but don't actually live it. They figure as long as they pray for forgiveness then they can do what they want.
but hypocrit is an artificial sin. being a hypocrites doesn't injure anybody. who said hypocrisy is immoral? even if some are hypocrites.
I'd say that Islam pushes the scale to non-religious people being more moral.
Of course form the perspective of those who kill children for eating ice cream during the wrong time of the day its the other way around.
All religions are not created equally. Agnosticism and Atheism could fall under classification as a religion in themselves, if
…a religion was taken to be absolute.
Whoever has the correct codes of conduct and doctrines, if falls on the individual to comply.
Religion is not explicitly necessary to discover these codes on your own. That’s how the first religion (s) was founded. They started off as agnostics.
*it falls
correct because they are called ism and believe an opinion.
We get our morals from God and those that deny God were taught by society morality as they were raised. All laws come from God
In general religious people
A "religious" person has more morals, but that doesn't make them more moral.
Non of them is more moral.
I think the two are unrelated.
an atheist says "i won't get punished" very related even a direct cause for crime.
Morality is subjective
