Not at all. First off, that's not a "cause". It might be an "example" of atheism- except that it's not atheism, either; just not belief in Jesus/Yahweh. Not like there's a lack of other gods to choose from. Third, the idea of hypocrisy is entirely comprehensible to even the most jaded atheist; having more cynical religious beliefs doesn't make you an idiot. And finally, it's not even good grammar; "those is" simply doesn't work in English.

I think you missed the point here. This is focusing on the BEHAVIOR of the adherents of a religious group... not the belief system. Behavior and character count. You can't hide those things behind a belief system. By the way, many people have left many religious groups because of this. That counts as a "cause," and it's not the only one.

A fair point, and one that would work, if atheism were an organization, like a Church is- but it's not. The hypocrisies of religious people may drive others out of a given Church, but is only going to drive a handful- if any- out of religious belief in an interventionist god altogether. Hardly "the number one cause", especially in light of things like "suffering".

Nor would it be limited to Christianity; it's not other faiths are lacking for hypocrisy.

"deny with actions" is only possible if a religion has rules for example islam if you "show both eyes you violated islam tradition". if a jew eats pork. they deny judaism with action but christian IS faith in heart.

So no, but I can see that as a reason for avoiding certain churches where the people do not care about the needy and ignore the plight of orphans and widows, which might ba a majority.

i agree with the first sentence, not with the rest. cause if one was to proclaim him with their mouth and actually also with their actions, that still wouldn't make their claim any more believable, cause neither actions nor claims can change what the reality is. and that reality is that this proclaimed god isn't to be found anywhere but in the minds of people who chose to believe.

I think the evangelical types, who are a minority, do drive people away from religion. But it is FAR from being the number one cause. The number one reason for atheism is because atheism is the default.

Of coarse they'd added people, but they have driven away a hell of a lot more. They are a MAJOR reason people have become so anti-religion. Evangelical types are annoying as fuck. I'm not against punching one of those mother fuckers if they start preaching at me.
