Why do some religious people feel the need to convert other people?

I'm someone who believes in evolution. Why can't people just accept other people's believes or what they don't believe?

The short answer is brain washing.


The long answer is this is an act they are encouraged to take within this community, it’s their way of trying to help you because you’re doing something agains what they’ve been told is a one-way ticket to a never ending paradise and they want you to join them there. It’s well-intentioned, but obviously pushing their views on you in direct conflict with your own isn’t going to go well. The point of this tactic isn’t conversion, it’s re-affirmation. It’s designed to make you reject their efforts so they’ll return to their community and be reassured by those of a like mind so they’ll feel more inclined to stay rather than open their minds and stray. It’s a common brainwashing tactic used by a large number of cults, I guess christians adopted it too.

good question coming from your assumption n prejudice.

before the answer, i point out you say "believes in evolution" which truly is: "from one or a few species into them god blew life, other species evolved" in darwin book.

so i use a parallel parable to answer.

"my 4 year old wants to take stuff out of the hot oven. he says he will be careful. he refused to wear oven mitts... because he will be "careful"=be a good person,

should a parent "just accept his ignorance beliefs or what they don't believe?" no! because... he will BURN same for atheists.

It's called "proselytising" and it's a prospective thing.

If you're perceived to going down the wrong path then it's only natural some people would want to help you out. They cannot force you into anything. So you should be polite back.
