Got me!! Seems like slaves that need an owner. People that can't think for themselves. Everything has to revolve around some mystical invisible man that lives in the sky that nobody has ever seen! Death is scary. We all miss our past loved ones. Because we have a sense of the past, and humans are deluded into think they have control of their future. It's a pleasant thought that we will live on past our death and meet all our loved ones. It's inherent to our tribal instincts that such an afterlife would not have a leader a guidance or an overseer. So it our brains instinctual response grown out of a evolved need to see agency where there is none. Because a brain that perceived a danger real or not tends to live by the precaution principle, when it is actually a panther and not just a noise. The ability to perceive a future allows for planning emotional linkage in the tribe and preparing for difficult times. All of these instincts that helped us get successful dominance. Also results in a need to have a life beyond death and a supernatural deity to give randomness agency. I hope my grandparents are waiting for me in the afterlife. But it's very hard to be logical about.
