Why do people still believe in religions?

For example, almost all my family members, relatives etc. are still muslims and they believe that Quran is the word of the God, even though they never reviewed or read it, but I read it in 3 different languages and always questioned and realized that it is just a comedy fairytales book which has lots of errors and violence.

And according to them, I will be burn in hell and they are going to heaven and fuck 72 virgins and drink wine all the time.

Why in the great information age, people are still not waking up.

These people have been brainwashed through various different ways depending on the individual.
The majority of people trust their parents and role models who raise them. These parents and role models teach them what is "right and wrong". When told to believe in the great sky beardo is correct, it's hard to convince them once they believe. It's the herd mentality.

Another group of religious people will have fallen on hard times and be vulnerable. Sometimes being brought into community religion helps them network and improve their situation. They mistakenly attribute this improvement to "god" when really it was just being given community support. The problem with this is that community is equally blind to the obvious.
So you have a couple of examples here.

In my opinion we should be creating non religious community spaces and activities.

For the same reason you don't. Not speaking of your family but the people I know who are believers in different religions, do it because they find that their religions make sense and match proven scientific facts at times where there was no way to know about those things (idk if that makes sense), plus some historical evidences.
I totally respect if you don't believe in religions and respect if others do and I don't see why there should be a problem in different beliefs. You do you.

I know atheists and even Christian's who are the same and that has nothing to do with their beliefs, it has a lot to do with their inability to accept others open mindedly and I think that's the real problem here. well i am defintitely not a fan or christianity or islam. i think churches only exists and are still allowed to "sometimes" ring the bells, cause that has been normal and culturally accepted here for so long. not many people are actually still christian. churches are a relic of those times and as that, they can stay.

minarets hower are not part of our culture and would be a major disturbance of peace (cause they are too loud and bother people). so that's why we can forbid them while allowing churches to exist.

we really have to educate people about how to "properly" know something... so that way you can be immune to indoctrination. luckily most of Europe and also germany already established that. i know islamic countries still strugle with that.
