What do you think about Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam ?

From what little I learned about him he lived a fairly complicated life. Anyone trying to become a prophet would, I suppose. Still hearing about the number of wives he had was a little surprising considering I’ve always related spiritual asceticism to celibacy. He had like 10 wives, the youngest of which being like 10 when they officially married? I doubt anything happened but that’s still weird. Not to mention it sounds like the talks with God and the devil in his head in the later years of his life sound like schizophrenic episodes and auditory hallucinations, especially considering how much he scared his wives when that would happen. Maybe he even seized once or twice.

Overall the man had good intentions and Islam does carry a great deal of good things in the world so his influence did the best it could given the time in which it was made, though I don’t know how happy he would be to see women barred from education and have his laws and religion be used as the reason women couldn’t pursue their full potential in Islamist or Jihadist states.

he was who he had to be to unite a fractured nation. I don't believe he believed his own bullshit though. there is evidence from people near him who accused him of using others to give him new recitations of the Quran. and Muhammed himself claimed that before a new revelation there was a loud ringing in his ear - a known symptom of epilepsy. but it probably wasn't him with the epilepsy since he didn't mention or seem to exhibit any of the other symptoms. but he did mention an "angel" gave him the messages.

I don't have any particular thoughts about him. I'm not religious, so I never bothered to try to research varied sources to get an accurate picture of him.

I don't have any more problem with Islam than I do with Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, or any other religion. I certainly don't think Islam is inherently bad even though there are radical sects that make it look bad.

From a very young age, people called Muhammad, Al-amin (the Trustworthy). People considered him as a man who tells the truth and keeps his words and do not betray. The wealthy leaders of Mecca who had a business going on and were making money out of people's ignorance and them worshiping the idols did not like Muhammad at all. They tortured him and his followers, forced them out of Mecca and tried to stop the expansion of Islam resorting to any kind of action. They waged wars against Muhammad, but he didn't give up.
