What is something you learned about your religion?

I had people tell me that God’s kingdom was based on only one standard which was whether you were directly saving lives as a doctor or frontline food provider in a famine area and that scared me away cause I did not believe I could meet that standard.

What I learned recently is that tertiary acts of kindness and indirect life saving activities are also extremely favoured by God.

If you are a farmer in Nova Scotia, your food is not directly addressing starvation in third world countries, but your food is decreasing the risk of starvation in your own country, it is preventive care and secondary humanitarian work through indirect life saving action.

God rewards indirect life saving actions and incremental life saving behaviours, such as smiling at strangers in the elevator, the cumulative total of many smiles could be one less alcoholic or drug addict…

The bible says God counts every drop of water you give to one of his children and he isn’t a God who only rewards large scale deeds that require big sacrifices and elephant level gifts to God.

I heard there is a book called elevator pitches for God or the case for God / Christ. If you care, those doctors are better speakers than I.
