So, I'm an atheist, (ex-muslim) and my friend (Pagan) had taken interest in Islam a few years, yes years, ago and asked me about my opinions and experience. I basically explained why I left and that it's mainly how unequal men and women are treated that always got to me, but I honestly just found that I didn't believe in God anymore. Obviously I gave a more indepth explanation and we went over the Quran together. Also, I'm a lesbian and Islam has a very, love the sinner, hate the sin view on gay people, so yeah obviously always felt a bit of denial about my sexuality and who I was growing up because of that too.
A few days later she told me she's been thinking about "reverting" even though she still agreed with my reasons as to why I left. It was a bit ago, but I remember her specifically saying, "I just won't follow those parts". I was like, "huh? That's not really how that works" and we had another long talk about religious cherry picking and at the end she agreed with me that if you believe in something you have to whole heartedly. This was the tail end of 2022. I remember a few months went by and she decided to "revert" anyway, but didn't take her shahada. Honestly I didn't want to talk about it, because she acted like she agreed with me before hand, but now she's wearing hijab even tho she knows my opinions on it. Recently this year, I noticed she started wearing her pentagram again and asked her about it, and she said, she's now an "Islamic pagan" and said its similar to Christian witches. Blended practices aren't allowed in Islam so she said she wouldn't call herself Muslim, but she still believes in Allah and parts of the Quran. I think it's a bit ridiculous, but didn't want to start a fight. She even still wears hijab and prays.
I feel like she's is having an identity crisis at this point but I don't know how to bring it up to her. For reference I'm F23 and she's F (obviously)21. I think she needs to take a break from religion instead of hopping around.
