What do you think of my theory on Matthew's commandment on not being a publican?

Jesus said if you fast, give to charity or pray in public, God will withhold your reward from you.

I know people who did many good things but did them openly and in public.

How did God remove their reward?

He caused them to commit sins in their ignorance that were thousands of times worse than the good deeds they did in public.

So on judgment day the weight of their sin will be heavier than the weight of their good deeds, and despite their amazing reputations, they will be treated like heinous and worthless criminals because they received all the reward they were entitled to by practicing virtue signalling on earth.

God does not reward people who do their good deeds for praise and honour. He might punish them for their good deeds instead of rewarding them.
