Like do you truly feel like Islam is what ISIS and Hamas etc Al Qaeda portrays it as. Bc truly it's not like that. I just want others opinions on it
+1 yNope, Islam is not evil.
I will never follow an organised religion, but would I, somehow, ever feel the need to do so... I will go for Sunni Islam.
Those Terrorist groups we have... an Al Qaeda and Da'esh... they do not espouse Islam; even Wahhabism cannot be labelled as Islam if you ask me. That's because those groups uphold the practice of 'Takfir' which does not belong in 'mainstream' Islam.
Takfir:Takfir (Arabic: تَكْفِير, romanized: takfīr) is an Arabic and Islamic term which denotes excommunication from Islam of one Muslim by another, i. e. accusing another Muslim to be an apostate. The word is found neither in the Quran nor in the ḥadīth literature; instead, kufr ("unbelief") and kāfir ("unbeliever") and other terms employing the same triliteral root k-f-r appear.
Since according to the traditional interpretations of Islamic law (sharīʿa) the punishment for apostasy is the death penalty, and potentially a cause of strife and violence within the Muslim community (Ummah), an ill-founded takfir accusation was a major forbidden act (haram) in Islamic jurisprudence, with one hadith declaring that one who wrongly declares a Muslim an unbeliever is himself not an apostate but rather committed minor shirk. In the history of Islam, a sect originating in the 7th century CE known as the *KHARIJITES* carried out takfīr against both Sunnī and Shīʿa Muslims, and became the main source of insurrection against the early caliphates for centuries.
Kharijites are extremists; they appeared first during the first 'Fitna' (Civil War) within Islam. This was a succession conflict between Ali ibn Abi Talib, cousin and son-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the fourth Rashidun caliph and the usurper Mu'awiya I of the Umayyad Clan. The rivalry of both clans pre-date Islam.
The 3rd Caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate, Uthman, had been murdered in a rebellion. Initially it was thought that Uthman was to blame for it himself but now it has come to light that it was one of his underlings, Marwan I of the Umayyad Clan, who is to blame for the murder of Uthman. However, Mu'awiya blamed Ali, who succeeded Uthman as the 4th Caliph... and Civil War started. First Mu'awiya pushed Ashia to start a battle with Ali, The Battle of the Camel, which she lost... but Ali spared her because she was Muhammad's wife. Then Mu'awiya took up battle himself and the Battle of Siffin commenced. When Ali had nearly defeated Mu'awiya, Mu'awiya requested a duel, which Ali refused. Ali proposed an arbitrage instead. The Predecessors of the Kharijites were in Ali's camp and disagreed. They felt that only Allah had the right to choose the outcome, and the outcome had to be concluded on the field of battle. The Arbitrage went ahead, and ruled in favour of Mu'awiya. The Kharijites tried to murder everyone involved in the Arbitrage, but only succeeded in murdering Ali.
Part of the agreement made at the Arbitrage was that Ali's son and Mu'awiya's son would rule together, but that agreement got broken by the Umayyad. Yazid I, Mua'wiya's son, had Ali's sons murdered.
Ever since there have been various Civil Wars in which the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphates fought wars with the Kharijites.
The Kharijites never disappeared... and there are now Muslim scholars who claim, and I agree with them, that groups like Al Qaeda and Da'esh are modern Kharijites; Saudi Arabia's Wahhabism is also being classed as Kharijites by some... Though Mainstream Muslims refuse to denounce Wahhabism because essentially they will be doing exactly the same as what they oppose in Wahhabism: Takfir.
Wahhabism should have never come to be; House al Saud, the Saudi Royal Family, had ben defeated by al Rashid in the 19th century and was living in exile in Khuwait... But here came Britain; Britain needed allies in the Middle-East to fight the Ottomans during World War 1. They put out a notice to many Arab leaders for a call to arms, and al Saud complied... but they did not have to join the British in the Levant, they were being supplied with weapons to fight the Ottomans on the Arabian Peninsula; but while they were doing that, they were also expending their powerbase. After World War 1 they conquered and annexed several smaller Arab states and formed Saudi Arabia, protected by Britain for its oil.
The Taliban in Afghanistan also does not follow a mainstream form of Islam. The Taliban follows Deobandi Islam, which originates in SE Asia.
People claim the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organisation... but they are not: The Muslim Brotherhood is not Jihadist and they are a target for Da'esh and Al Qaeda.
Iran: While it is most certainly a Theocracy, ruled by Shia Clerics, and there are some outdated laws... Iran is nowhere as bad as Saudi Arabia, and women... despite our lovely Western news Articles... actually have it quite good in Iran. Women in Iran are highly educated and do have many liberties. The strict Sharia laws aren't consistently executed... but as soon as protests erupt in Iran, you can be guaranteed that Israel and the US are involved and that agitators are amongst the protestors; The Iranian Regime is paranoid then and retaliates in force to ensure Israel and the US will not destabilise the country. Israel also continuously sabotages production facilities, the nuclear facilities and murders many high ranking people within Iran. The US also sponsors terrorist groups like MEK (Mojahedin-e-Khalq), PJAK (Partiya Jiyana Azad a Kurdistanê) and Baluchistan Separatists who are terrorising both Iran and Pakistan (Remember maybe the short conflict between Pakistan and Iran not so long ago in the news? That was not a conflict between Pakistan and Iran as was reported in our news, both countries had come under Baluchistan separatist attacks).110 Reply- +1 y
And the most important group you have mentioned: Hamas
They have my full support: Hamas is not a terrorist organisation They are freedom fighters... Israel is a terrorist state; a colony on stolen land. The 'conflict' didn't start with Hamas... Hamas is a product of the conflict, and there are very plausible reports that Hamas has been created with the full knowledge and support of Israel.
The Secular PLO had become too popular, and Israel wanted to break that... so they devised a plan to allow Hard-line Palestinians to set up an Islamist group with the ultimate goal of instigating a civil war within Palestinian society. Well, they succeeded... The PLO, its successor the Palestinian Authority, and Hamas went to war... but what Israel did not expect was that Palestinians were fed up with the PA and felt betrayed as a result of the Camp David accords (The PLO signed piece with Israel; Israel promised improvements which never came; and the PA oppresses Palestinians just as much as Israel because it does Israel's dirty work for them) and Hamas' popularity rose tremendously.
Hamas didn't seize power in Gaza, the Gazans democratically elected Hamas... and Hamas also won in the Westbank, but the PA prevented the take over with Israeli assistance.
While Hamas is the only organisation which has the means to take on Israel... the sad thing is that Hamas and the Israeli government need each other too. 1 will not survive without the other: Every time Netanyahu gets into stormy political waters, you can be guaranteed that Gaza will be bombed so he can save his political hide and he will always cite Hamas as the cause for the bombing; Hamas will retaliate with rockets which will boost their popularity with the Palestinians...'Peace will be signed: Win-Win for both.

People keep going on about Hamas being genocidal maniac due to Operation al Aqsa Flood... The amount of Israelis which have been killed by Palestinians since 1948 pales in comparison to the amount of Palestinians having been murdered. Outside of direct battle, each year only 1-3 Israelis are being murdered, and 1000s of Palestinians are being murdered. What do you expect? That the Palestinians are going to stay sitting ducks and get murdered in the thousands each year? No, Hamas has been carefully planning this attack with the clear goal of exposing Israel's brutality to the world. Hamas fighters did not have orders to murder Israeli civilians, but, as in every confrontation, civilians will die. There are many reports of Palestinians letting woman and children go; Palestinians looked well after their hostages and many of the hostages have been murdered as a result of ISRAEL'S HANNIBAL DIRECTIVE. Israel does not allow its soldiers to become prisoners because they will be used as bargaining chips by the Palestinians to force Israel to release thousands of Palestinians. The IDF has orders to kill any Israeli in an attempt to prevent them from falling into Palestinians hands. Just read the many reports of Israelis who were there, in the Be'eri Kibbutz and at that festival... IDF tanks and Gunships were firing at Israelis, also hostages kept by Palestinians, in the Kibbutzim. The massive damage which has been caused in the Kibbutzim and at that festival cannot be caused by small arms; only by heavy weaponry and the Palestinians do not have that!

But even then... Even if the Palestinians murdered 1250 Israelis in cold blood, does that warrant the murder of nearly 40,000 Palestinians? Of which most are women and children?
And the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have been wounded? Israel deliberately maims because would there ever be a Palestinian state, all those disabled people cannot contribute to Palestinian society and will be a drain on the economy.
If I could I would want to move to Palestine, to Gaza and try to make myself useful there... I don't care about single bit about the risk of Israel murdering me; I'd quite happily die a 'Martyr' for the Palestinian cause; and least my life had some meaning and purpose then

@DrPepper12 You are welcome 😊
Not to brag or something; but for me to come to the only conclusion any moral person should come to... Israel had no right to exist; Palestinians are the victims and are being oppressed; Genocide is being committed in Palestine... I have had to go deep to counter the Israeli 'Hasbara' (Has no real English translations, but is down the line of 'Explanation'; it's propaganda) in general, and Trolls specifically.
And that includes Religion, Judaism and Islam, too then. The OT is wrong... I am a man of logic and reason, and everything needs to be proven... Religion cannot be proven; History, however, can. The Religious accounts in the OT do not live up to the Historical accounts. The conclusions I have come to are also sometimes being mentioned in the OT; so why is there so much opposition against it from Jewish people and Christians? Muslims believe in the same narratives of course, it's after all also an 'Abrahamic Religion'... but Muslims cite the Jewish and Christians to serve as a warning not to deviate to the true Religion: Islam.

@DrPepper12 Organised religion is all about control; so if people would start to doubt the Religious, Jewish, Narratives... Judaism and Christianity will come to an end and thus control over people will be lost.
I am also massively interested in History in general. I have been deemed unfit for work and thus have a lot of time on my hands. Most of the time I waste my time away playing games (Historically based games: Europa Universalis IV, Panzer Corps/ General, Order of Battle... used to play Total War)... but if I am not playing games, nor on Social Media, I am reading online about historical subjects. I am interested in the very Empires throughout History and because many of the earliest Civilised Empires were in Mesopotamia I read more and more and about... and thus ended up with the history of Islam and the various Caliphates too. - 1 y
@DrPepper12 "... I read more and more and about..."
I read more and more about the region*

Agreed, you are absolutely right!
It would be like saying all Christians are responsible for locking people up who went against the teachings of God even if it promoted actual truthful fact based science (Galileo & Copernicus), being genocidal maniacs who did the Trail of Tears & Crusades, etc.
No ONE race or religion should bear the responsibility of horrible events. Those that did those horrible things should be held accountable and not punish a group of people for revenge or retribution just for the fun of it.
A friend of mine who is Muslim is kind, nice, caring so I know that. The teachings of Islam aren’t inherently bad, it is the bad apples out there that justify their hateful, abusive, violent rhetoric on the religious texts to con more people into doing the work of Allah when they aren’t. It has to end, racism & religious prejudice must not have a safe harbor around the world. Period.
I’m sorry that you get harassed the way you do, I’m sure you are kind, nice, and sweet too. Thank you for having the courage to speak out, thank you thank you thank you!20 Reply

+1 yI believe Islam has many good qualities or potential good qualities but people who follow that religion might interpret their teachings in ways that are not in line with the will of the Divine Being. Whether that is due to issues with their religion or whether that is due to the way they interpret their religion, I am not high enough in the order of things to make draw those conclusions without error. I prefer my religion but I still respect those that think different from me. I just choose not to participate in what they believe.

1 yIslam is a religion, and by itself, it is neither evil nor dangerous. However, extremism in any direction can be harmful or dangerous. Extreme interpretations of the Holy Scriptures of any religion can cause a lot of harm.

1 yReligion is not evil inherently. But all religion eventually deteriorates into control of other humans. The message of many religions is great. The behavior of some in all religions is terrible. What you are really talking about is our inherent hard wired tribalism that makes us fear the different, and the way people use that fear to manipulate others. Islam is a minority here therefore different therefore bad. Christofascism is rearing it's ugly head in the USA and it is used by others to generate fear and hated of us. Anyone who tells you to hate others because how they look, what god they worship (or don't), wear they live. Be very very skeptical. Bad people are everywhere groups aren't inherently good or bad. Anyone who tells you otherwise are manipulative and they should be avoided.
20 Reply612 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Religion is fundamentally evil.
The only exception to that is one that you keep to yourself.
The religion that is not is used to influence and warp minds of others into their dogma. There is for sure a scale of how much a religion tries to do so but all of it is bad.
Islam is at the top though, Christianity used to match it but they calm down a lot.
Islam still believe in the east they are living in crusade times where's okay to carry out extreme acts of war in the name of peace for the one true religion, and who's to be shocked by this? It's their oldest tradition.
Tbh I am surprised christens stopped.00 Reply434 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Islam is essentially Christianity on steroids. You have a fucking grown ass man named Muhammad marrying a 6 year old and then fucking her when she's 9 years old. He is a vicious warlord who literally kills innocent people to take the clothing off of their back too because of how profitable that was at the time.
The Quran itself has many atrocities and is very brutal. Muslims also have a nasty practice of practicing taqiyya, a k. a pretending to be normal until they have enough of a population to overthrow the local authorities.
I do not respect Islam, I despise Islam more than even Christianity. It is a very brutal, evil religion. Not to mention it is an economic retardant because you are not allowed to charge interest on loans under Sharia law.

1 yIslam is a beautiful faith and thats coming from an atheist! There is much to admire despite the historical problems that some have with The Prophet - i think he was just a product of his time and place. Islam when practiced as intended is culturally enriching and brings its adherents peace and grace as well as admonitions to do good in THIS world. people forget how young islam is and all the growing pains that Christianity went through comparatively.
