***As they Near Death, I Certainly Do Believe them. xxoo
From a medical perspective, when an elderly person believes they are seeing a deceased loved one, it is most likely a hallucination caused by factors like age-related cognitive decline, dementia, or other medical conditions, meaning they are not "really seeing" someone in the literal sense, but experiencing a perception not based on reality; however, the experience can feel very real and comforting to them, and should be treated with sensitivity and understanding.
Key points to consider:
Medical explanation:
These visions are often categorized as "bereavement hallucinations" - a common phenomenon where the brain, due to grief or cognitive impairment, conjures up images of a deceased loved one.
Impact on the individual:
Even if not "real," these experiences can be deeply meaningful and provide comfort to the elderly person, especially if they are facing significant loss or nearing the end of life.
What to do:
If an elderly person is experiencing these visions, it's crucial to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying medical causes and to discuss appropriate support strategies.
Sometimes hallucination symptoms manifest as seeing and talking to people who died long ago. Advanced damage to the brain in a person with dementia may cause such hallucinations. Your loved one may feel a deceased one's presence and have full conversations with them, even though they're not there.
It’s a comforting thought that they would but no, I don’t believe it’s possible. All I will say is that I’m sure our minds can conjure up all sorts of images, perhaps so convincingly that we may even ‘believe’ them to be real but they are not.
I do believe they believe what they are saying is real and would never tell them differently. Whatever helps them in their journey to eternal nothingness is of no consequence to me.
I hear people that say they see their mother, sister, or Jesus in the corner of the room. Soon after they have passed. I'm thinking someone is there to accompany them home. But who knows for sure?

Yes, I do. I really do believe so

Luke 16:24-26
24So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
25“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
I belive that not only elderly people but some in general have the ability to see and communicate with the other side. Children and animals a lot of times, have this ability as well. Many studies have been done on pyschic abilities, experts (both scientific and spiritual) and they are still trying to figure out why some people are able to pierce the veil while others are not. 👻
I never believed in all that stuff, but when I saw my father passing away... He kept saying " Can I go now?".. they're waiting for me. The morning he passed away I was in front our house. and I saw a flock of seagulls flying ( mind you it was Sept and birds usually fly south during that time). I always felt it was a sign.
There are things in the universe that we cannot perceive with our senses. Every once in a while we can get a glimpse of these phenomena under the right conditions. Whose to say that people near death can see dead people.
No, but I don't know everything about the world. And I know for a 100% fact that scientists haven't made complete sense of the world yet. So there's more to reality than we understand.
Brain is a Tricky Organ..
Just because we 99% of time observe things that are real. It becomes hard to believe that 1% of time that we Hallucinate..
Possibly it is just the same as I still see my passed cat's tail out of the corner of my eye or hear him getting up to mischief.
It's all in the head, but it feels good and relieves blocked emotions and loosens the mind.
I've been really ill a couple of times and I was visited very clearly. So yes.
They believe they are, that's all that matters.
p. s. there is something to the energy of the universe and all that is.
but as well, I was in a deep dream this morning that was very real to me... and I had a great Olympic Games... all while in my bed.
The mind and heart are powerful things!
If you believe in the afterlife and heaven. Why wouldn’t that be a possibility? I have heard that some people believe that animals can see spirits.
That's a real possibility... that will never be proven nor disproven.
Are thoughts real? The synapses in his brain that are causing this are real.
The actual presence of a person from beyond the grave hasn't been verified by any two people.
Yes they do see it. My mom saw my dad. It made dying easier for her knowing he was waiting for her.
I think it’s just the way the brain works during that moment, but it would be nice to see that
If that's what they believe 🤷 does it really matter what anyone else thinks
My senile neighbor, whom is really a lovely man, has been hallucinating lately that I am Moses from the Bible. Instead of dispelling this I wanted him to be happy so I've been walking through his yard with stone tablets and reciting the ten commandments. He seems to be totally into it, set his bushes on fire and talked to God.
I have lots of dreams that include my parents, grandparents, etc. Certain scenarios repeat.
And while there is a direct correlation between real life situation and the dream version, the dream version (of that building/situation/whatever) will stay the same from dream to dream. Example - college campus will have the same buildings in dream as in reality, just shuffled in a different pattern, but that different pattern will stay in the same consistent state from dream to dream, almost as an alternate reality.
No but prayer and imagination both light up the same areas of the brain so there's that...
No , it's only their memories which are strongly connected with you..
You often time miss them.
I don't know. I don't think anyone can answer this question accurately.
I can I’ve lived 3 times before
Obviously not really happening
But, do they think it's happening? Probably
Probably not, but maybe.
depends but i wouldn't disavow it
They're seeing them in their minds eye so imagination which is as valuable an experience as irl visual. It's the emotional experience their mind is providing for them, hopefully positively
It’s probably a vividly lucid dream that they can easily remember.
No way, because they see just a memory
Not sure if I count as older? But I spent from just after Christmas to after New years in the hospital. I would swear I saw & talked to my oldest brother who passed away last winter.
I believe them
Elderly what or who?
Is 71 elderly? I'm as boyish as ever !!!
Don't think so. There's plenty of other more logical explanations.
