I saw this video about how most people in the western world who grow up in a religion leave it when they are adults.

What do you think?

It’s not “disappearing” this is just christian apocalypse propaganda (for like the millionth time, you’d think they WANT the world to end at this point). Religion is changing, people are recognizing the hypocrisy within the institutions of the christian church and how a religion that’s centered around love, kindness, and forgiveness is being used as one of the most common justifications for abject hatred and they’re leaving it behind for that reason. Religion is moving on to a different god, but America and most of the western world is still a christian cultured nation. It’s not going extinct, it’s just existing within homes and bibles, not pews and steeples that act as tax shelters while saying someone who wasn’t born here shouldn’t have the right to a job here. And everyone else is moving on to other religions and spiritualities that feel more comfortable to them, like hellenism or buddhism or even wicca. Anyone who says differently is just buying the hoax like the whole “war on christmas” bullshit.

In France people are actually more and more religious especially the youth which is quite crazy, I wore my cross everyday in high school and people always made comment about it finding it weird and I was the only one but now I see more and more young people wearing their cross. This is good so I doubt religion will disappear especially since we have lots of muslim who are more religious than us

      Interesting.

What do you think about people who are more spiritual but not religious?
      That’s what I consider myself.
I’m more of a deist myself.

I know some Catholics are more pre Vatican 2 and don’t like Catholics and some are more post Vatican 2 and are more okay with others belief systems.

Well if they don’t like catholic they r not catholic, catholic follow the vatican if they do not they re not catholic
I guess it’s n American branch of catholicism that don’t exist in France.
I have never Heard of them

I m ok with everyone as long as they respect my Faith
Im just not a big fan of American protestant because they re weird I do not get how they can be against healthcare while being Christian it don’t make sense 😅

      Yes our Protestants are annoying.
I prefer the Catholics they seem more intelligent.

That was an accident I mean pre Vatican 2 Catholics don’t like non Catholics and think they are all going to hell for not being catholic.
Vatican 2 Catholics are more open to others and don’t hate other people.

True protestant are very special. I have hard time understanding them in America.
      This is good :)

Well that's rather interesting to know but Catholic are teached to be nice, tolerant and forgiving so if you re a catholic and don't like others it kind of pretty much say anything = that you're not really a Catholic or need to be better.

Maybe not in the US, but elsewhere.
Immigration will be a pretty big factor though. For example, Christianity had all but died out in the UK, until some Eastern European countries joined the EU, leading to an influx of Christian immigrants. Before that, the average churchgoer was about 70yrs old, and churches were rapidly closing all over the country.

Statistics probably inflate the numbers already, as a lot of people still interpret "Christian" to mean something more along the lines of "white, non-muslim". For example, 45% of people describe themselves as Christian, yet only 35% say they believe in (any) God, which I'm pretty sure is one of the prerequisites...

I think it should, but I don't think it will.

I believe religion is a vastly outdated concept that should have disappeared centuries ago, with the corresponding increase of science.

However, those in power saw too much potential for religion to be used as a means if controlling the masses to ever let it fade into obscurity.

Even now, in the western world, there are far too many people too deeply under religion's sway, to ever let it go.

I believe it will decrease. People don't want to answer to anyone or anything. God is love but if one wants to be with God he requires us to repent. That means a person has to admit they are wrong (sinned). That in itself can be hard for people (but not impossible). Then he asks to make him Lord over our lives by give up our old ways if we truly love him and putting him in first place. Some people can't. The true Christian life is sacrificial. And to top it all, God doesn't guarantee that we won't have hardships, in fact, he says to expect them. Many see this as a rip off instead of the chance of God refining us for God's purposes. Most People want comforts and to do as they wish. Living for God is the opposite of that. That's why we have to pray for our society. The church is growing in countries like North Korea, Nigeria, Muslim countries, China, Venezuela. What do these countries have in common? I'll let you answer that.

If it's taken to the extreme & very restricting, then yes that's pretty reasonable for people to leave it or become atheists in adulthood. My family is Christian, and we don't take it to an extreme or anything, so I stay with it. It's just a really small part of my life. But I feel bad for those who were in a very religious household.

I really pray 🙏🏼 that never happens but I feel like we are right on the edge.
I think there are a lot of people who enjoy being evil and doing evil things.
Most people want to do there own thing especially when it comes to sex.
But I believe that there are also people who were chosen by God and they will keep it going.

If taken as spiritual needs, nothing indicates that it will disappear to me, it's even the opposite, spirituality seems very much ingrained in individuals and societies. Though those needs may end up nurtured by organized religions, cults, new age, that would be the unknown factor to me?

No, it will not. For a time, it may become obscure and have less influence. But again, that will only be for a time, assuming, of course, Our Lord does not return in glory before then. I think that in 50 to 100 years, there will be a massive reversal of these trends.

No, there are always going to be enough of naive and ignorant people who will believe in some religion.

I certainly hope so. But I'm not going to hold my breath. There are too many superstitious and ignorant people around for that to happen.
