Do you celebrate Easter, April 20th?

I was raised Catholic and was even an altar boy, so my family definitely celebrated Easter.
Of course, as kids, we also got Easter baskets full of treats from the Easter Bunny on Easter morning. We would have an Easter feast, too, with the entire family - grandparents and relatives.
During high school, I began drifting away from religion. And after I moved out on my own, I didn't go to church or celebrate any religious holidays except for secular Christmas.
But I did take my family - mom, dad, sister and niece - to Easter brunch every year. I did those brunches for my mom in particular. Everyone would get dressed in their finest and go someplace really nice.
That ended in 1994 when I was 40 and she was battling cancer.
I got married in 1996 and my mom died later that year.
My wife and I moved out of the area in 2000 and we had fun going to Easter brunches for several years. But those got more and more popular, you had to make reservations far in advance, and they were a zoo. Not worth the money, either.
We eventually stopped dealing with it.
@Lliam that opening sentence "I was raised Catholic".
Enough said ๐๐๐๐ - I also was. However I'd have ditched for the Protestants (purple is my jam and progressive, less Jesus, more England) or the devil emoji in purple who smiles ๐ who wouldn't worship that along with the Easter white bunny ๐๐ฐ๐๐ฐ and chocolate ๐ซ in moderate amounts of chocolate for my poor hives of 3 years now
Well, I will certainly annihilate a chocolate bunny or two, if that counts. :-D
Eastern belongs to ฤostre Spring goddess. Even if my real name is a derivative from goddess of winter, death and nightmares that will be expelled by Eostre every year, I enjoy scrambled eggs with fresh green onions and Chocolate bunnies. On the other hand I don't think Germanic tribes who lived after Gottones left region where I'm living now had chicken eggs, nor chocolate 2000 years ago, but they burnt straw effigy of winter goddess we do until today.
I do this year itโs the same time as catholic Easter.

Lilly1979 means some Orthodox Christians follow the old calendar or known as the new calendar which all Christians used until one of the Popes changed the calendar by 14 days back which is known as the Gregorian calendar ๐
I do celebrate Easter! 🌼 It's such a lovely time to enjoy with family and friends. We usually have a delightful brunch and spend the day catching up and enjoying the spring weather. And thank you for the book recommendation! I always love finding new reads. 📚🥚
Just what in the hell does programming code eat for Easter lunch?
@OlderAndWiser Easter eggs! (Small usually fun surprises hidden in software)

A story, when i first started going to church i felt they skipd* Easter. So i asked someone "a year ago how did you celebrate Easter" she blinked and said "i don't celebrate Easter because i am not catholic" a shocker for me the newbee... but yeh jesus never said "i have risen celebrate this day" at all in any way! "Simon did not say so you are out."
A long time ago I saw this photo & that kind of rained on the parade & I havenโt celebrated Easter since.
Yes I do. But it pretty much like most days
@xxblack88
Itโs special, and so are you ๐ฏ๐
Yes. Not sure what the image is about though.
Yes, I celebrate every Easter and I am in church every Easter Sunday every year.
@jennz6 I sure do Jenn - do you also when you're not working if you're off Easter? 🐇🐇🐇 Do you wear bunny ears at home for the occasion?
And will there be chocolate ๐ซ I'll be eating chocolate at-home
Yes I do. Usually my wife makes a ham for Easter but I'll be cooking it this year
Yes, my wife cooks a turkey and a ham and my kids will be here.
I do not celebrate Easterโฆ Passover yes and the resurrection of Jesus which has nothing to do with bunnies and eggs. Those were offerings to the goddess of fertility.
The only things about Easter I like is hard boiled eggs and candy. Especially malted milk balls !!
I'm Greek Orthodox and this year the calendar lines up with the western Christians so I'll be celebrating on the 20th
I go to Easter mass and then have a ham dinner with family. And the Easter bunny used to bring me a basket of candy when I was a child.
Not really, but i sent Easter messages to my Christian friends
Which Christian doesn't celebrate on April 20, 2025? It's the date on which both Catholics and Orthodox celebrate at the same time.
Like eating chocolate bunnies and eggs? Sure!
Yes two holiday sin one this year, Easter bunny and Easter bowl
As a Christian myself yes of course.
