I have always been Christian, but I've switched Denominations a few times. As a child I went to a Methodist church with my grandparents. Then, I moved across the country before I was a teenager. I switched to Southern Babtist at that point soley because all of my closest friends went to the same church together. In college I was agnostic. Then as an adult I became a Christian again but realized I didn't believe in choosing one Denomination anymore. Denomination always seemed so divisive and I didn't like that. I always found it odd that different branches of Christianity seemed to compete with each other on who was right or wrong. Catholics vs. Methodists. Methodists vs Pentecostols and so on. Since Jesus walked the Earth and gave his messages, the birth of Christianity, his messages have changed drastically over time. Some preachers pick and choose what they teach of his message and even the sections of the Bible that they teach. Sometimes the preachers will even throw their own opinions into their teachings. We've ended up with hundreds of Denominations and millions of preachers with different teachings. It's all about what preacher is the best and the churches competing with each other on who is right and who is wrong instead of joining together to become one body of Christ which is what Jesus initially wanted us to be. In the new Testament it actually talks about this very thing happening and how we should not be so divisive with beliefs. Nobody is any more important or valid than the other. With all of this being said I am Non-Denominational Christian now. I go to church once in a while but I take what each preacher teaches with a grain of salt. The Bible is ultimately what I go by because it's the original source and is most trustworthy.

I am only so-called a Muslim and live like an atheist. I would like to convert to Christianity, but Christianity seems absurd to me. It seems absurd to me that God would impregnate a woman and that a virgin woman would give birth to a child. I am also a virgin, so why can't I give birth to a child?

So what do you or your folks or friends or just you - do you observe anything religious? Dress modestly aka sleeves versus no sleeves 👕? Or do you believe in eating pork, or dating outside marriage? I'm just curious bout your journey to becoming as you say an atheist or a Muslim who may not be a practicing quote unquote Muslim

We live exactly as an atheist lives. Since I am not used to wearing revealing clothes, I am more used to wearing long clothes. Apart from that, we may have eaten pork, I don't know. I am against flirting outside of marriage. I value virginity. I don't know anything about Islam, for example, when you ask me what my religion is, I say I am Muslim because I grew up in a Muslim country. That's all there is to it.

By the way thank you for the mhg

Don't worry, calm down. I have no plans to convert to Christianity. Because all religions are an eclipse of reason. I don't think it's right to let strict, boring, depressing, fake, mythological stories that don't benefit me shape my life, as I have the ability to understand what is right and wrong without religion. I just say I'm Muslim so that I don't become a target for dangerous religious individuals if asked. I hope you understand.

You're welcome and intriguing - do you still wear long clothes? What about are there ever exceptions in summer or a hot working environment? I've seen some women ditch modesty if it means avoiding heart stroke or collapsing lol - long sleeves become short sleeves 👕- thoughts? 👀

Welcome any answers or insights please - was it hard growing up in a country like western or Christians who can be very hedonistic lol 😂😆 I for one am one of those lol 😈

Nah, my parents weren't religious at all. I was never in a church or synagogue for any reason other than weddings and funerals. We celebrated Christmas and Easter but it was a purely social thing, nothing religious.
So, I grew up experiencing religion as an outsider looking in. By the time I was 13 I had already decided it was all bullshit. And I've never found anything that changed my mind. On the contrary, I've only become more convinced that religion is the refuge of weak, stupid, people who live in fear of everything they don't understand.

@OneViewpoint as an outsider, those who mix or identity of culture with religion, think Amish, judaism, Islam, orthodox Christians - what do you make of their strictness and how religion and daily life even overlap? I could not lead a lifestyle admirably with all that pressure, let alone even being baptist or Coptic even - so many rules. Lol I'm glad I never had to endure Catholicism in the old old days - yes I'm a lapsed Catholic or a cafeteria one - ideally im a very progressive Anglican or Protestant progressive without the happy clapping

I think the rules are a manifestation of insecurity and an obsession with trying to find order in the natural chaos of life and the universe. Religious nuts need it all to make sense and they need a simple set instructions for life. If they just follow the rules... everything will be OK. But the universe doesn't care if they waste their life obsessing over their bullshit rules.

MHO for your commentary points especially
I was what I called "nominally Christian ". Never really any strong feelings about it, just going along to get along. At about 11-12 I became aware that the whole Christian rap was nonsense and I declared myself an atheist. In my early 30s, I encountered Wicca. Now do I actually believe in any kind of deity? Depends on the day, usually not. What i do believe is that Wicca's moral code, aligns with mine. I also find Christian proselytizing very annoying and sometimes downright evil.

OI was a Muslim before and now I am a Muslim because I do what Prophet Muhammad does, everything he does is very useful, so I will stay in my religion.

The last people in my family that were expressly religious were from five generations ago. So for the four generations after that it has always only been a „Judeo-Christian heritage“.

I changed from Katholic to protestant, cause the Katholic priest in my particular village was an asshole. But later i ditched that entire delusion club alltogether. So i'm an ignostic atheist now.

I started out Lutheran. In the early `70's, we started going to the Methodist church. By the time I was in my mid teens, I gave up on al that pointless bullshit. It's all fairy tales!!
