Have you ever thought of converting to another religion and why?

I considered converting to judaism at one point, but was very quickly talked out of it after learning hebrew school was a requirement. I was raised christian but I’m definitely not part of the church anymore, fuck that noise. These days, I’m just calling myself a spiritualist, adapting the rituals and beliefs that feel right from an amalgam of religions such as buddhism and witchcraft, and believing in the power of the universe and the many deities that exist within humanity.

Raised christian, now agnostic/atheist (kinda undecided, but I also don't really care). If you count a lack of belief as switching beliefs then technically I already did. Rather than subscribing to a specific religion, I prefer to learn about and from different religions as an outsider. It's good to have a variety of perspectives and ideas to pull from, but ultimately I get/have to make my own moral decisions and don't engage with actual consistent religious practice.

@strateguy632 I mean, it's not blind. My belief, or lack thereof is based on observations of the world around me and the conclusions I draw based on those observations. To me, it doesn't seem reasonable that any of the gods/etc I've heard about would produce and manage the world we actually live in. And the reason I add agnostic to my self-categorization bc it's not that I'm absolutely sure there is no god of any kind, I'm actually pretty unsure. I've just not found a religion that has convinced me that they have it correct enough to become a practitioner of that religion.

My logic is that if there is a god, then either a) they don't care that I don't actively worship because, presuming they care at all, they know I try to live my life morally or b) they do have a problem with me not worshipping, in which case I wouldn't worship even if I knew for a fact they were real. Anything that demands worship is not worth worshipping. So either way I'm good.

I was raised going to Christian Sunday School, but I always had doubts. When I was ten I learned that there are many religions, all believing they are true and the others are not, based on nothing but some stuff some people wrote. At that point I concluded that none are true, it's all make-believe. When I was 11 or 12 I stopped going to church. I've never had a second thought about it.

Not seriously. When I was 14, I may have thought about becoming a non-denominational Christian, then a few years later in high school, I was trying to be cool and edgy and dabbled with agnosticism. That was it though. I am now and will continue to be a fully committed traditional Catholic.

Most people say "i grew up in whatever religion so it is the best/ or "so i can't change" in response to such thoughts... or "i don't feel the Need to change , unless it bothers me" but those are unrelated to truth.

I can be "fine with my faith" that 3/2= 7 now that i finished school... and feel "happy" with that, no reason to change but it might still be wrong! I can think it is "best" math. But it still might be wrong so i need to check if it is wrong... especially if the risk is fire in hell as some religions warn.

Similarly someone can "have problems" unhappy with a religion that might be the true one. It annoys me that 3x2 is 6... so i will stop believing that... so we really need a way to check.

i grew up in jew religion and could say "i only tasted chocolate , so i will never try another flavor, i am fine with chocolate flavor it does not bother me" but then i had to check if it was wrong... amazingly all major religions agree that Christianity is good and even point to christian faiths,

but that agreement is not found about any other religion!

Islam said the "new testament is light and good"leading some muslims to obey quran and study new testament... led to reject the leaders who say "new testament got corrupted" because that conflicted quran that it is good.

Similarly studying mahabharata of hindu in first book leads to monitheistic Christianity. Those who notice won't even look for krishna in that book!

Studying jewish prophets Isaiah and rabbi talmud leads to jesus... it is the only one that even competitors praised.

Obviously jesus and moses never said "muhamed will come after me obey the new laws"... but said the opposite.
