And what was your reasoning or trigger?
Have you ever thought of converting to another religion?
And what was your reasoning or trigger?
I went from believing in God to becoming an atheist during my teenage years.
I think I was always an atheist deep in my heart but I had been a victim of "polite society".
I still use words like "god speed", "goodbye" and I haven't changed from BC and AD to CE and BCE because I recognise that Christianity helped our society to become what it is and the Gregorian calendar is the most accurate calendar ever devised. I recognise the significance of the history, I just don't accept the irrational mysticism.
I would never become religious. I grew out of a belief in supernatural beings long ago. And most religions, themselves, are just a means of control and profit.
Many belief systems have some good messages, ideals and even practices, such as how to treat ourselves, others and the natural world. A lot of good literature is of equal value.

There was a point in time when I was not sure who I even was. I gave religion a try. It was not a good fit. These days I have embraced the ability to think for myself. I tend to reject doctrines in general, be it social, political, religious, or otherwise. My reasoning is simple. I don't want anything to do with anything that discourages honest questioning. I don't think God put brains in our heads to maintain a beehive mentality. He gave us brains so that we can reason things out for ourselves. Religion doesn't want people to think on their own as it does not want people looking outside the boxes that organized religion puts them in. A new religion? Nope. I'm good.
Nope. I was born atheist and stayed that way. Even though I was taken to church I could never make sense of it and gave up on it as just another fairy tale when I was about 13. I've never looked back, never had even one moment when I wondered if Christianity or any other religion could be true. To me it's plain as day that it's all just something people made up to explain things they didn't understand, or to convince themselves that death is not final.
I was raised in a Hindu family and I chose to be atheist.
Nothing actually triggered me.
At first choosing atheism was just a way to piss off some of my irritating overly religious relatives.
Later it just seemed to make more sense to me being a big physics enthusiast.
I'm pretty firm on Christianity but the idea on with holding all pleasure is a lot of weight. It would be nice to consider a faith that allows you to do whatever you want without hurting other people. But what I've found, life is sacrifice, life is pain, if we allowed ourselves to do anything we wanted it could destroy us. Self control is worth it, selflessness is worth it. It is not earned easy but at the end of the day it's much more satisfying
Rather than me adopting religion, religion adopted me 😂.
My loyalty is not strict but I choose to see the good things in every religion one preaches peace and love but does it really matter? As you know how many would follow it ni matter which religion you are there will be drawbacks or superstions associates with it
I started out atheist, then became agnostic once I realized I did not know, then became a Deist once I concluded that a singular infinite god was likely, then became a Christian when I studied the Bible. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can convince me to change.
I haven't considered any. I had lessons in multiple ones: christianity, catholicism, islamism, judaism, hinduism, budism, paganism and I even looked at satanism. None of them seemed more likely than Peter Pan, even as a child, so I wasn't interested.
I’m intent on converting to Islam in the future. For now, I’m taking time to truly understand it as I prepare for this decision 🤲🏻☪️
@StephenCF i admire you😍
What religion are you now? Or are you not religious?
I am agnostic, does that count? Never knew much about any religion, enough to consider...
I used to be Christian, but now I've since become spiritual. I've always felt that if you practice religion, you can't fully enjoy life to the fullest.
I am agnostic, and was raised as a Christian, so I guess I did “convert” in a sense but not to another religion.
No way.. Why? Because I like the Christian/catholic women and want to impress them and go where they are going.
no i like to learn about them but i don't see a reason to follow them.
if i could eat pig and mustard then i would be a jew any day but i can't so i try to minimise my consumption and stick with orthodox christian
Maybe worshipping the clarinet section of the Benny Goodman Orchestra.
I did once but i had a dream where Michael told me to stay with the Church.
The one that provides actual evidence of it's claims.
That the other religion made more logical sense in the belief system.
Not since I was in my early to mid teens.
I did already. I won’t again.
