I'm a feminist and I'm anti religious by the way... Just saying!
Let's begin...
In my view religion keeps women under a yoke of oppression to their fathers and then their husbands. It’s done because in their minds a woman’s value is greatest when her vagina has an intact hymen. The big three religions are by nature patriarchal in structure so they all view feminism as a threat to their existence.
Feminism is mostly good for society as it aims to put women on solid footing in the workplace, home, medical establishment and in the eyes of the law. I further believe that women who live fulfilling lives are happier, healthier and will continue to want to have children and have a fulfilling sex life.
Religion is a poison pill to the people on the African continent, from telling men to not use condoms during the height of the AIDS crisis to promoting female genital cutting in girls. Christians and Muslims have indeed left a scar on Africa that will likely never heal. Feminism on the other hand has helped Rape victims and has prompted education in Africa.
Thanks
This is so true
Someone had to say it
Actually I know enough about religion to know it’s complete BS and it keeps women under oppression.
I mean religion has always been present in africa, Christianity, Mos Maiorum, to name a few foreign ones but also to many indigenous beliefs and practices to really list off.
As for feminisms in some places it's had an impact but in other places it has had zero impact.
The horn for instance would be a place were it'll pretty much never take root and it's influence will be little to none.
Though really if this is a conversation you really want to have maybe you should have it with actual Africans you know the people actually feeling the impact and the influences of this and that.
All any of us outside of Africa can do is speculate and offer our opinions. Because we're not there.
I don’t worry about the collared dogs of feminists. They are none of my business. Their favourites ( feminists) are free to do whatever they want with them.
Do you mean before or after the continent was raped by colonists?
I don’t think you know how to check your sources
I’m sure there’s plenty of documented evidence to support what you’re telling me. You’re just also being weird about it

They seem unrelated. Religion influenced africa like the north sudan attacks destroyed/decimated south sudan.
Feminism... can interpret your question, religion influence on feminism, but feminists don't accept influences from religion so that is unrelated. Religious influence on ladies depends which religion. Christians have lady leaders in my church. But Muslims you know what i can not write online.
I feel you 😂😂😂🥲
Yeah, you can't be religious and a feminist. To be both would be contradictory. To be religious would require you to follow a man, which feminists refuse to do, so...
Correct

Religion—particularly Christianity—has done more to protect women and preserve human dignity on the African continent than feminism ever has.
Feminism, especially in its modern Western form, tends to reject traditional family structures, promote resentment between sexes, and push ideologies that many African cultures—especially religious ones—rightly see as harmful.
You’re free to be anti-religious and call yourself a feminist. But don’t pretend those ideologies have brought more peace, stability, or respect for women than the religious values that built communities, fostered families, and held nations together for centuries.

I'm not pretending
I stand on that
It's not pretense my sister
Are you even in Africa?
No, as there is little to discuss.
What you're asserting is largely Christian colonialism shattering, enslaving and brainwashing Africa to meet its own norms.
It is little to do with religion, and more to do with Western imperialism rewriting a continents norms.
Religion is dumb and has caused way too many problems for everybody.
Someone had to say it
I've never considered religions' impact on feminism in Africa
Please do
I'm also a feminist and I'm anti religious. So what's kind of influence are we talking about in Africa?
How it vilifies and subjugates ladies
Yes, religion does that.
Religion hasn't done a whole lot of good in the sense that FOREIGN religion has impacted on the indigenous belief systems which were less about power and control than about status and survival. Having roles in society has always been a benefit until feminism became dominant in the west and brought about animosity between men and women and took away the value of home making as valid. They say it's about choice when in fact it's about access to wealth and away from family values.
Christianity has obliterated many indigenous cultures around the world. They brought them useless bibles, introduced deadly diseases, raped women, forced conversations and extorted everything from them.
@Northerndude84 You're speaking facts
You know your history
Sure, though my religions origin is influenced more in Egypt and cultures in and around it.
What is there to discuss
a lot
Interesting. I don’t know much about this.
I really don't know much about africa
Right
Sorry
Let's learn though
Much love
