I had a dream that if I behaved properly or with good intentions, I would be protected by God. Has God ever protected you from something?

In 2018 I almost dumped my partner for another guy because both of us were totally new to relationships and we struggled with severe and unresolved communication issues throughout our entire relationship. I was always very unhappy in our moments of contact and in our moments of separation.

Then I met a far more talkative and confident guy that appeared to be interested in me. I decided at the last minute, that it would not be morally correct to dump a person I was with for somebody else. 3 months later, the man I did not leave my boyfriend for began dating another woman and the new woman told me he was very abusive towards her in the relationship.

That was 7 or 8 years ago and the guy I did not date still goes online every day to say bad things about my personality and intelligence and I would assume over 96% of it is pure lies and 2% might be gross exaggerations of things that could be potentially interpreted as true under more subdued and normalized contexts.
