What I get out the rule not to throw your pearls before pigs, is you must not give your spirit and your identity to those who do not respect you, or they will incite conflict, anger, and persecution in your life.

And when it says not to give what is sacred to dogs, it means do not give your deepest affection and emotional vulnerability to somebody who does not love you, and is not responsive to your spiritual, mental, or psychological needs, because they will dismiss everything you bring to the conversation and be reckless with your feelings and interests.

I like the way you’ve put that it makes the verse feel very practical and real. Protecting our heart from people who can’t value it makes a lot of sense. In Islam too, they taught to guard heart and share it only with those who value and respect it. The Qur’an also warns about who let close, so can relate to your interpretation.

In Islam, pork is forbidden because pigs are filthy and carry viruses; Allah Almighty made it haram for this reason. Loving pigs is not forbidden.
