Like that person you’re interested in becoming interested in you? Or you’re where you’re supposed to be at, at that exact moment at all times?

Sort of. I mean, I think so.

I've had things happen to me that I thought were negative but then better stuff turned up as if the first thing had to happen in before the positive thing would be possible.
Like losing a job and then a better one turning up. Or breaking up with a girlfriend only to get another amazing girlfriend.
Or meeting someone who turned out to turned out to be very beneficial.

I've also gotten in trouble and learned valuable lessons. Like, when I was 18 I had to serve community service and volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels to old people. Some of them were really sweet and I became friends with them. They didn't judge me for my long hair and the way I dressed. I realized that old people weren't necessarily stodgy and uncool. It helped me to grow up a lot and become a better person.

My grandfather loved music, watched TV shows like Lawrence Welk, Grand Ol' Oprey, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Roger Miller, and other entertainers that I didn't think were cool at the time. And he collected records and introduced me to a variety of stuff including current hits. I absorbed that music subliminally and it helped me to have a broad appreciation for music and become a musician later.

My first guitar teacher was an aerospace engineer where my dad worked who volunteered to come over and give me some lessons. I was surprised when he showed up and was a tall, slender, black man with a cool goatee who was a master flamenco guitarist and could play jazz and anything else on a guitar. He had studied flamenco in Spain.
He was friendly, patient and kind, and it turned out that he was much more refined and educated than anyone I had ever met. This was in 1965 at the height of the civil rights movement and Watts riots. He had grown up and achieved all he had during segregation but didn't have a chip on his shoulder.
He was the first black man I had ever met and I came to respect and admire him greatly. As a result of meeting him, I could never stereotype black people or be racially prejudiced. That served me well later in life.

I've also been in the right place at the right time quite a few times and had some absolutely amazing experiences.

So yeah, things tended to work out for me as if they were meant to be.

Your examples, of course she can choose, and not "becoming interested in you". If i am meant to= destiny: to earn enough money for my family, then i can sleep all day , lose my job and get it anyway... destiny?

Honestly I’m starting to believe it.

i think i’m not meant to find anyone, which is why I’m single at 23. (Don’t start with the whole “give it time” and yada yada. I’m not here for that) There’s loads of single guys in my area, they just don’t want me. I’ve never been “hit on”/complimented or ask for my number. No man has approached me. I think it’s just meant to be that way, which is why when I hit 23 this year I decided it was time to stop having crushes on guys and if I find a guy attractive I just keep it moving. I’d rather not allow myself to believe in false hope.

Fate might open doors, but you’re the one who has to walk through them.

So yes, I believe in what’s meant to be but I also believe in effort, timing, and choice.

The term originated at a time when control over ones life was at a all time low. When you did all that was expected of you and still things went awry. The human brain is in search of positive outcomes upon which to base future decisions. When your input makes no appreciable change in outcome. Look, shit will happen either way, but it doesn't necessarily mean that shit has anything to do with what you want.

You are constantly a part of the the relative construct that is The Past, and so even though all futures are set, you are still riding the ship that leads to either of them and can manipulate its direction.

So yes, what will happen is set, but you are a part of what leads up to it and so you are still an evolving variable.

No, it's always possible to mess it up. Sometimes messing something up something that's meant to be on a higher level only delays it further into the future, but not always.

I'm not really sure anything is meant to be per se, though; it could be more that some beneficial opportunities serendipitously present themselves but no particular outcome is known or expected even on the higher levels.
