Do most Christians believe in Reward and Punishment?

I read over 40% of Christians do volunteer work, the rest might be taking care of kids or aged parents or working side hustles on top of their 9-5 job. I wonder if they volunteer because they believe God will reward them for it.

Absolutely they do. We know biblically it’s 100% factual that salvation is not tied to deeds. This was displayed by the Career thief on the Cross. However that does NOT preclude us from our actions or behaviors towards others. Yeshua said he knows we are his friend if we do what he tells us to do. Many search to be a friend of Jesus and we do it to honor his wishes. Also countless examples are given that while we might make the salvation cut, there ARE varying degrees of Heavenly existence. The most prominent one was because “whoever who is the least on Earth will be the Greatest in Heaven”. Also Jesus saif John the Baptist was the greatest Prophet to walk this Earth. However his place here is lower than the least place in heaven. It’s not only about $$. Giving our most precious asset to others and serving them is our calling. Displayed by the Seder Event when he washed his disciples feet. Our clothing are our acts. Go. Be well clothed

TBH, I volunteer and it never crossed my mind that there may be a reward. For me, the reward is immediate. It just feels good.

As a Christian, I believe we are taught to care for those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Until I read your question, it never occurred to me that my volunteering may be the result of my religious upbringing.

I think it is a general rule that people feel good themselves when helping others, except for bullies of cource who only want to cause more pain in this world. So I think it's that and yeah they do think it is the right way and will then enter heaven I suppose, reward I don't know about?

I Volunteer to help make my community a better place to live. And also to meet like minded people in my community. I never really thought about being rewarded by God. But if it happens I guess that is another benefit.
