What goes through your mind when you hear atheists say there is no proof heaven exists?

It's just obviously obvious? Someone believing in heaven doesn't have any proof either, they have faith instead. It's just a vocabulary issue arising when someone believes that proof is something else than hard science concept, but it is not. Since heaven is not a physically observable or measurable concept, then hard science can do nothing with it. Out of scope, as someone said already in the comments.

On the other hand, soft science has something to say about heaven as a concept, about its social and historical function in religions & spiritualities, about its psychological function as well. That won't prove anything either way, because soft science isn't hard science, but it certainly gives food for thoughts.

I'd have to wonder first what they would consider satisfactory and acceptable proof. Then I'd ask how and why it would be acceptable and why I should believe them when they say so.

I'd also take that opportunity to remind them that science (or whatever passes for science these days) and faith have different scopes of authority. They have different aims and ends. They are concerned with different things. They can work with each other (and in some ways, even require each other), but they still ultimately have different things they focus on.

It just shows how lazy and hypocritical they are. Math has proofs that are not tangible. If i lack proof about something, it is still possible like my ears can't hear radio waves but radio are still possible. if i had a different tool. My radio doesn't show all wavelength s so should we reject, based on lack of evidence, other wavelengths?

similarly physical science is not the tool for spiritual. Like saying my TV doesn't play radio so i deny radio waves are real.

I just assume they are the kinda people who need tangible evidence for everything and that they dismiss the things beyond what we can currently measure. I am find with that, thats up to them how open minded they wish to be on the unknown. But ultimately they don't know either.

On TV they said the med community recognizes near death experiences. They said aftr near death experiences alcoholics say I don't hav time 2 drink. Corporate business owners said I don't hav time 2 make money.

Finally some peopl who hav had near deaths say they saw elsewhere what happened. 1 is where they saw someone in anothr area of a hospital they were in get a certain candybar from a machine. They askd the person if they got that candy bar I think n that person said yes.

I personally think it's their personal choice but i used to be atheist too until i had my near-death experience which proved a spiritual world exists beyond our body not just heaven or hell.

Atheists are more likely to say that heaven does not exist. Agnostics say there's no proof. I believe that there's an afterlife, but not the heaven, purgatory, and hell aspect.

Atheism and agnosticism are two separate things, not degrees of the same thing. Agnostic is from the Greek "a-gnostic" or not knowing, but in this context it usually means "not knowable". That's the position of most atheists. We don't know if there is a god, but we do know there's no evidence.

Atheism is a philosophy and way of life -- living as if there is no God, that this life is all we get. Almost all atheists are also agnostic.

@slatyb Agnostics doubt the existence of God, but don't deny it out right. Atheism is a shortened form of anti theism. The lack of belief in a god.

There's a difference between "Lack of belief in a god" and "Certainty that there is no god". Atheists live as if there is no god, but almost all are also agnostic. Very few assert that there certainly is no god.
