How should I respond when people question why God protects me but not others?

Somebody said to me at church that there was no reason why God would protect me and not others. And someone said to me at the bookstore there was no reason why God would choose me and not others.

Both of these people were acquaintances who had never had a single deep conversation with me and knew nothing about my life before I met them.

I do not know why God does not stop people from suffering in Africa or Asia, but I know God has always taken care of me and protected me when I needed His help. Why he does not protect everyone, I have no idea. All I know is, he protects me.

I guess you should respond in accordance with your beliefs. Personally I never felt it was my responsibility to defend God, or speak for Him in any way.

Because they are curious and keen to learn. Either because they want to make you a Saint for all the miracles or burn you at the stake as a witch.
