For my non Indian friends, caste is a sub religion of many.
And many of them don't mix.

Personally I am in between agnosticism and atheism, and I do mind if I am forced to do something religious, if you don't force or tell me about it I am fine.

I just spent 3 years with a guy and we never once discussed our religious opinions and almost never any political opinions either. They are my two least favorite things to talk about and are meaningless to whether or not the relationship will work to me.

I find it so interesting and so sad how much Indian culture still relies on castes even when they’re no longer a legal setting to decide if someone’s guilty of a crime or not.

If a lower caste girl falls in love with a higher caste she is used like an object, and if she gets married to the same guy.
She becomes a slave.
And if she doesn't then she is discarded because of virginity.

Ahh simple they have mentally captured the poor, policing is a joke cause people can't even register an FIR.
Then we don't have any self defensive act in place.
If we kill or seriously injure someone, the justice system sees it the same, every case takes nearly 4 years for a single verdict.
And lawyers are expensive so again if the person is poor, he/she is fucked.
On top of that, some people are so brainwashed that they worship a higher caste person and they can do crime against them and no one cares.

Oh there was a funny story about brainwashing.
So every year before Diwali festival we clean our houses, so my dad bought some cleaning service, he was a good guy, responsible and smart, so we asked him, teach this to 4 other dudes (which my father will help to find) and start their own service company.
His response " oh I can't do that, because we are forced to pray everyday to the owner that we won't compete against him, we won't complain against him, he is our master".

Around 71% of Indian sitting MLAs have some kind of criminal records.
One of which I cleaned remember is Indian sports minister, has raped countless women.
He also has killed one person as he has said in an interview.

His son was also like that. There was a thumb drive with all the videos evidence and no action was taken.

I just want to highlight that policing is too weak.
People who have power or money have more privileges and immunity against these crimes.

And they use religion to get an army of followers to control the voices of the poor.

Mostly people get killed,
called urban terrorists, worst of all losing jobs and put in jail.
The one who did, went to jail.
For example Umar Khalid, Sachin Mali, Sheetal Sathe,
And a lot.
I met 2 of them, I did talk to them. They still try to create a moment but none has time, money or energy.
Due to having a lot of population, workers are replaceable so any security net also gets washed once associated.

Another issue is that a lot of these stories are justified with a big plan which humans can't comprehend.
But what about when gods do genocides, plagues, war.
Hinduism also is the worst when it comes to discrimination, untouchability, sati and pollution, putting milk in rivers, eating cow dunk and drinking piss.
And touching someone from lower caste is a crime😂😂😂.

It matters to a certain extent. Ideally, I'd prefer that we are on the same page with certain things, or at least be open to having conversations about why we believe what we do.

Me and my Partner are from different faiths. We talk about religion once in a while but this has never affected our relationship. We've always been very respectful of each other's religion.
