Does God judge everyone the same, despite our different upbringings?

I'm not talking about me. Like for example i was fortunate to have 2 very loving present parents growing up. But not everyone has had that. I try to remind myself of that when i'm on this site that we have not all had the same experiences, trials, and tribulations in life. So it would seem unfair for God to expect the same out of some people as he would me. How can you expect someone to know how to love if they've never been, or minimally loved themselves? I know this is not an excuse to not try and not put in the work, the effort. I know God will meet us all where we're at.

Let's put it this way.

I don't know what church you belong to, but in the Catholic Church, we believe in the Communion of Saints. These are real, historical men and women who live the life of the Church. In the Communion of Saints, you'll find the greatest diversity of personalities, temperaments, and backgrounds you can possibly imagine. And in some cases, yes, that includes those who suffered abuse, neglect, and even in some cases, were abandoned by their parents (Saint Margaret of Castello being one of them). Some suffered an unfaithful husband or wife. Saint Philip Howard was himself the unfaithful husband to his wife.

Many Protestants and Evangelicals will look at guys like me and say "Oh, you Catholics and worshiping your saints and all! Don't you know that's blasphemous and distracting from Jesus?" This is not ever slightly true. These are men and women who lives, hearts, and souls who were so greatly and profoundly transformed by Jesus Christ and His Grace that they still became very holy people, even though they suffered as they did.

So to answer your question, my answer is "yes", but that's because even with the suffering that some people endure because of a parent, guardian, or spouse, God still gives us all everything we need to be pleasing to Him.

G0d judges us based on our having been exposed to His truth and how we abided with it.
