If God is real and loves us equally, why are some people born luckier than others?

As an example, my 25-year-old cousin is always traveling around Europe and posting photos on Instagram. He only gets to do so because his dad is rich and he himself doesn't need to get a job to afford traveling. Meanwhile, my cousin in a developing country, the same age, has to work 10 hours a day to save up money for a new motorbike (that's what they drive there). His family is poor. He can't even think about traveling because he doesn't have the funds nor can he even go (his country's passport is restrictive). Two guys, same age, different luck.

Define "luck". Here in the US, we have money that KINGS would envy, even in the poorest communities. I've been in a position where I was literally surviving off Costco free samples and fallen change in the street; I was still better off than most people in Freetown or Monrovia.

And yet, this country has one of the highest rates of anti-depressant use in the world. Our family structure is crumbling, and it's not being replaced with something better, but isolation and meaninglessness. The people whose survival depends on being able to find enough food to eat and enough wood to cook it, and keep the predators at bay, know a contentment that the office paper-pushers never will.

Luck is about a lot more than just money.

There is no such thing as "luck". But there is such a thing as "circumstances".

Your travelling cousin could break his neck tomorrow and be bed ridden with no amount of money able to fix it. Likewise your poor cousin could find out you're talking shit about him, and sue you for libel and make a bit more money.

None of this has anything to do with equality before God. Both are equally human and capable of making and doing better. That is all that matters to God.

Have you ever considered reading Ecclesiastes or Job? Much of Ecclesiastes is written from the perspective of a person who looks at life on earth without God, or life “under the sun.” From such a perspective—leaving God out of the picture—there seems to be good luck and bad luck.

What about Ruth? Was it luck or chance that brought her to Boaz? Or the wicked King Ahab--was it pure coincidence that an arrow shot up into the air at random by a no-name enemy soldier just happens to pierce his armor in its most vulnerable location resulting in his death?

God’s sovereignty involves two aspects. God’s active will or sovereignty would involve something He causes to happen such as the leading of wicked King Ahab into battle (2 Chronicles 18:18-19). Ahab’s death was not merely the result of a randomly shot arrow, but as 2 Chronicles 18 reveals, God actively directed the events that led Ahab into battle and used that randomly shot arrow to accomplish His intended will for Ahab that day.

God’s passive will involves Him allowing, rather than causing, something to happen. Chapter 1 of the book of Job illustrates this in what God allowed Satan to do in the life of Job. It is also involved in the evil that God allowed Joseph’s brothers to do to Joseph in order to accomplish a greater good, a good not apparent to Joseph until years later (Genesis 50:20).

Because we do not have the curtains drawn back to see what is taking place in heaven, we cannot always determine whether God’s active or passive will is involved in the events of our lives, but we do know that all things that take place are under the umbrella of His will, whether active or passive, and, therefore, nothing is a matter of mere chance. When a person rolls the dice to play a board game, God may sometimes cause the dice to land a certain way, but more often than not in such inconsequential matters, He may allow the dice to land as His laws of nature would determine without any active involvement. But even when He is not actively involved, how the dice land is still under His sovereignty.

There isn't god. People wanted to blame their problems on someone, hence they created god. Thats what people do, blame someone for their problems. They don't have the guts to hold themselves for the problems they created.
As for both these cousins, its isn't luck. Maybe his father worked his ass off to be where he is. I don't want to be rude but thats the truth. The other cousin is working hard , so he has more experience and has seen much worse and one day hardwork will pay off
