What does the Bible actually teach about moderation and balance?

I believe the Jewish bible teaches you should be religious, but you should not be so religious that you lose respect for non-religious people.

That is why the bible says to do good, but do not do more good than what is necessary or beneficial for the world. If you are too good, you will begin to compete with and judge those who are less good than you.

It says, you can be hostile but don’t be so wrathful it interferes with your happiness, behaviour, family, or personal goals in life.

Just like chocolate cake is good. But nothing except chocolate in your diet is torture and punishment.

Have boundaries and use common sense.

Too much virtue without building your happiness can lead to jealousy.

Too much hatred without building your understanding can lead to death.
