What would you do if your 18-year-old son wanted to join the Jewish community and wear a kippah?

Although children often grow up to resemble their parents, sometimes they make different choices. If your 18-year-old son told you that he had joined the Jewish community and wanted to wear a kippah and grow payot (sidelocks), how would you react?

Old? Maybe... It’s debatable how organized something has to be in order to qualify as a religion, but the “peaceful” part is funny. Christianity and Islam claim to be universal, so they engage in missionary activity, which in a sense inevitably brings some degree of imposition.

But think about it this way: 2 + 2 = 4. It isn’t personal; it’s universal. If someone in the scientific community claimed that it was 3 or 5, they would be ridiculed or ostracized. If morality is also claimed to be universal, then naturally, some degree of imposition follows.

I understand why you hate Hitler so much, but at least you could have said Buddhism is the most peaceful religion

A religion that is not proselytizing is peaceful... they rather turn people away. Also, to me Buddhism is more philosophy than religion, them not having a god aspect is kind of... weird.
