Heraclitus was the Ancient Greek equivalent to Buddha... he was a prince that was set to become king of his city, but instead became a "true prophet."

He said that human wisdom is apeish to the gods. That true wisdom is to speak your mind plainly, listen actively, and act according to how you speak. That learning does not make you wise. That without mindfulness you are dead. That the mind is set afire and quickly extinguished before sleep (i think he means you should meditate at night before sleep). That death is life. That the beginning is the end. That energy destroys matter and matter destroys energy. That all things change like a river, still the same river yet never the same.

Remember if you do you lose your immortality! also there are other trees although the fruit from those ones may not be as tasty or ripe.

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” (Genesis 2:16–17)...

To the woman he said, “I will greatly increase your pangs in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”

Morality is a subject that triggers some people, I presume because they are susceptible to being called immoral. For me, morality is built upon some assumptions about fundamental values and behaviors which define "right" and "wrong." It was taught to me by my elders when I was a young boy and it hasn't changed as I've gotten older. I do not have the privilege of adapting morality so that it is convenient for my life, and morality may be quite inconvenient at times. And in a system of morals, as I understand morals, the answer to the question is almost never "it depends."

Most religions have an inherent code of morality, though not all religious people either accept or follow the code. And a person need not have a religion to be a moral person. Some religious adherents apply the code in a way that defies the teachings of the religion (e. g., the Westboro Baptist Church protests at military funerals) and those who are not religious use those examples to criticize all religions. But there are many religious people who attempt to follow a moral code. . . and some of them are slammed for their behavior.

Yes, simply believing in a moral code might place you at odds with those around you, and actually following that code increases the odds. It's not easy. I try to be a moral person, and my dedication to that ideal has increased as I have gotten older. However, I do not claim to follow my moral code without fail, but I do try to learn from my mistakes and not repeat them. I don't do it because it is easy. I do it because I think it is the right thing to do.

Not sure if its learned messiah complex, like Mother Theresa who wanted her flock to suffer. Like the more I’m a victim the better heaven will be?

I worked with a volunteer group that had hard times getting poor people to sign up for shit that will HELP THEM…. they never turned in the paperwork, the group had to go retrieve it and walk them through it. It was free fcking money!
