Greetings old friends. I'm super tired and the thought of explaining this properly is a lot, so apologies. 2000 characters disappering...

My bathroom exhaust fan was a bit noisier than usual when I turned it on today.
I figured I'd vacuum it, remove some dust. I've done this once before.

Told my husband, asked him 1. If he thought that white 'fluff' stuff might be mould, or if it was just dust (we both decided not mould), and 2. What brush he thought I should use. (He's way too into cleaning, and I am not, so I asked. Big mistake.

All I was asking for was advice. Instead, he took the entire fan housing out of the ceiling. To vacuum it. He unscrewed, unplugged.
When he finished and plugged it all back in, it was broken. Won't turn on.

Please advise what he did wrong. And fuck being democratic or pussyfooting around. Tell me straight. He's historically overconfident when it comes to repairs, especially with things electrical. He almost started an electrical fire before. He works in IT. He's arrogant about other skills like home repair.

He did not turn the breaker off when removing it, nor remove the timer switch piece.

Below the fan timer switch, there is a notch I noticed. It can be pulled out to deactivate the switch. He did not do this. The lights no longer come on, on the timer. We can compare it to the same model timer in our 2nd bathroom, which does have lights on permanently, even when not turned on.

He then completely removed the fan. He plugged it into a regular wall outlet, and it powers on. So, the fan is operational.
But when installed back into the ceiling, it receives no power.
He checked the outlet on the fan, and it shows no current, or not 120 V. It reads 0. xx.

Did he somehow fry the timer switch? How? Can we fix the problem by replacing the timer? We have the same model in the 2nd bathroom.

The fans are cheap, not more than $50, maybe. What I'm concerned about is he doesn't know what he did, and he may do it again, if we replace parts.

I'm just curious. I always had a feeling this site leans conservative.

Do you like having less rights than your mother had? Do you like the government being in your personal business? Or the idea that if you have a problem with your pregnancy, you might just die or nearly die before a doctor will be willing to help you? How about all of that happening to your friends a family too?

I figure most of you don't like any of that, so if you don't, I think it's a clear choice. The entire country is depending on women to show up and vote against the orange menace, because the men sure as hell aren't going to. The economy will ebb and flow as it always does, but for the folks who write Project 2025 and advise the orange menace, banning your reproductive rights is JUST the tip of the iceberg, of freedoms they want to roll back and abolish in this country. The next step is banning birth control. How does that sound? Just read what they've wrote down.

I just think it's so obvious that women need to put a stop to this now, and we have the power to do so. It's just a matter of the voter turnout. You can't stay home, you can't vote for a third party, you have to vote in a way that hurts the guy who overturned Roe and said he was "proud to have done it". You have to stop these people, before it gets out of control. You might not like Harris, or agree with her on everything. But you need to like yourself, and all of the women you care about, enough to show up on election day and send a message to the Republican party like they've never seen before. We've got the power to do it, we just have to actually do it.

So, I'm quite sensitive when it comes to touch & my boyfriend of more than 2 years is more on the other end of the spectrum. When he's sober, we arrange this well & are both happy, except for the occasional reminder for him to not break my neck when bear hugging me.

I want to clarify, he is a very kind soul, just clumsy, so it's always good intentions from him! But sometimes he accidently hurts me, which annoys me if it's too frequent & that's case when he's drunk. The more drunk/drugged, the worse it gets, as you simply loose control over your body. He tries super hard to give me my space & be veeery careful touching me then, but it's just not working. I'm kind of conditioned at this point that when he comes close to me drunk, he'll likely step on my foot/squeeze me too hard/poke his nose in my eye/get his fingers stuck in my hair, so I tense up as soon as he comes near me in that state. The worst part is that he's especially vulnerable & affectionate when drunk, but I just have to defend my space & tell him off & he can tell I'm not fond of him, which hurts him a lot.

I tried to avoid his drunk/drugged persona (he knows all of this, we communicate about it), but I also don't wanna miss all fun evenings with our friends. Moreover, it's a part of him (which he does not want to give up in this part of his life) and so I sometimes want to be with him in that state too. But it often ends in him being hurt & in a bad mood the next day, trying to recover from the rejections of the previous night and then he's the one needing his space, so I can't hug or kiss him to show him affection then, or to say sorry.

I know the most obvious solution is for me to avoid him in that state. But I wonder if anyone else made such experiences & whether you think this makes us a bad match/myself kind of a bad girlfriend, at least for him, that I can't deal with this? It hurts me a lot to hurt him and I hate myself in those moments for being so mean, I just don't know another way.
