I’ve had dogs all my life and I’m trying to get more into natural foods and am trying to do the same with my dogs. My dogs are all gaining weight well, typically a lb or two overweight according to the Vet, but they always seem hungry which is frustrating, so I’m checking to see if anyone on GaG has an idea.
Making my dogs food for a ~3 days is as follows.
1) 10lb chicken or rabbit with bone in. I simmer for 24 hours to make bone brittle and grind all this together.
2) I make 1lb of rice or sweet potatoes with a tablespoon of butter for fat.
3.) I add 1lb of vegetable medley

4.) I add ~0.75lb of fruit medley like mango/banana/strawberry/blueberry

5.) I add 1lb of organs from chicken liver or beef liver

Dogs are 60-70lbs each so I give the 1lb of food twice daily. Why are they acting hungry still?

I know some people have medical conditions that cause them to gain excessive weight. I'm referring to weight gain caused by someone's own personal, controllable actions.
