Friend sent me this from NY Long Island paper:

While NYS DMV says the Mobile IDs are safe, some critics argue the digital driver's license poses personal privacy and security concerns.

Digital IDs are not yet widely accepted as proof of identity. More than 25 states have adopted or are moving toward adopting the virtual IDs.

The digital IDs can be accessed by cellphones to quickly identify the holder while traveling, at bars, stores that sell liquor and tobacco products, doctor's offices & more - as long as the business decides to accept them. More than 20 airports accept the ID including NYs Kennedy & LaGuardia.

Since then, social media has lit up with concerns that the virtual IDs will serve an authoritarian government at the cost of personal privacy, including calling digital IDs "deep state psyops."

The conservative Rebel News website is pushing a petition claiming digital IDs "call for invasive collection of biometric markers, location data, banking information and vaccination records... digitization will surely have dire consequences for our lives as governments assert more power over us."

But the concern is broader. The NY Civil Liberties Union alerted the DMV about "urgent concerns" five months before the state announced the program. The group called for investigation, public debate and a full balancing of benefits and costs of the program before it was made public. "Without public debate or discernible legal and technical.

The company contracted to provide Mobile ID is Idemia Identity and Security USA, part of a French-based global company. Idemia has several contracts with the state for facial recognition, fingerprinting and other security programs.

The NYCLU's concern isn't just what Mobile ID can do now, but what in can do in the near future, said Daniel Schwarz, senior privacy and technology strategist. "The technology needs to be open sourced, revealing its full capabilities, and that state legislation is needed to provide safeguards."

I am having a lot of health issues form or become worse, both mentally and physically. My stress levels are through the roof. I am having frequent headaches, heart palpitations, and feel like my body is deteriorating. I am only 29. Turning 30 next month.

• Access to adequate and timely healthcare has been an immense struggle. A physician told me recently, in her 40 years of being a doctor, she has never seen insurance coverage this bad. She believes health insurance is working against us. Wait times are long to see any specialist. Copays are crazy if they even do accept insurance in-network. I have severe mental illness and getting affordable mental health care here locally is a nightmare. I am a complicated case with medications.
• I just recently as of a month ago lost my job. I witnessed two mass layoffs at my company in my short tenure there
• I am struggling to acquire new employment in my industry. In addition, I am having to distinguish between legitimate job postings and recruitment scams. Scams and fraud... it is everywhere.
• All these illegals are pouring in everywhere. In addition, people are moving here in the drives from up north and California. My assumption is they are trying to escape the high taxes, woke politics, and corrupt governments in their states. They are overwhelming our resources here and my hometown is struggling to adapt and accommodate a massive influx of people. Knoxville, TN was listed as the second most in-demand housing market in the nation. Our state does not collect state income taxes.
• I was mistreated horrendously at the hospital ER when I had my kidney stone. I was placed out in the lobby in my underwear writhing in the most severe pain I experienced in my life.
• People are mean, self-centered, and greedy. Family units are falling apart and support systems are diminishing.
• Everything is so expensive. I payed $80 for 3 bags of groceries a couple days ago. That was WITH my value card. Skimpflation and shrinkflation is running rampant.

The other day, I saw a news item about a new housing development being built nearby. I have no intention of moving, but I was curious about it, so I went to its website and looked around. The next day, I get an email asking me to make an appointment to see the model home. I ignored it.

A few weeks ago, my wife went shopping and used my credit cared (we share it, but it's in my name). A few days later, I start getting emails and text messages asking if I want to buy more of what she bought. I ignore those.

On my way to visit a friend a while back, I passed a shopping mall. I know Google tracks my cellphone, and sure enough, I started getting emails and texts from stores in the mall... that I didn't even stop at. I ignore them.

For years now, my I get coupons in the mail from my grocery store for items that I often buy, plus an occasional item I don't buy, just to get me to try it. I use the coupons for things that I want to buy, don't use the others.

This is all data mining at its finest, and just about every company does it today.
