Obviously, when going to the office the first choice among many women today is a pant suit. I know that about 50% or more of my office wear is a pant suit. Sometimes, many women and I wear two piece skirt suits. My mother tells me that this was the absolute first choice 40 to 50 years ago. She specifically mentioned the 1980's.
