I saw this happen a lot when I was younger. Admittedly I would sometimes get jealous/frustrated when an attractive woman choose a lesser attractive man over me just because he was “really funny”. And these men were also mediocre at other aspects in their lives (work, hobbies, etc.). Some of them were bums and/or scum bags.

Then I got older/mature and I shifted my position to “well I have to give credit where credit’s due”. If I saw an average looking guy pull a hot woman then I had a “good for you man” attitude. If I saw an attractive woman date some abusive asshole then I had “well you are going to get what you signed up for” attitude as well. And when these women got burned I refused to give them a shoulder to cry if they had the nerve to come crying to me about it.

But now I believe men are being judged more harshly by women on their looks more then ever before. Our digitized society has pushed it with social media and dating apps. But they some of them are just as judgmental as guys used to be (or worse). The only exception would be if the guy has money and/or fame.

I don't think it's really possible to truly become emotionally mature until anyone has started to live independently and forced to make compromises, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others that they don't like. So I kept it in the adult range, as it's not too likely that anyone too young is considering consequences it's relatively easy to avoid those things before becoming an adult.


For the men: what age range have you noticed changes during your day to day interactions, dating, work, etc.

For the women: same as above, or with the additional of your own testimony, and what life occurrences would you say has resulted in the biggest growth in emotional maturity? That last part is the most important.


This question isn't asked out of malice, I'm just curious. I've seen women younger than me be very considerate of the thoughts and emotions of those around them, meanwhile others older show contempt for anyone that goes against them in some way. Is there a point that most flip, or is it a life experience (and men and women live very different lives, hence splitting the question)?

I was on social media watching a funny skit it was talking about age gaps and in it someone made a joke about this generation making certain age gaps weird which I fully agree with. The gap that was mentioned in the skit was 19 and 17 dating wise. The guy making the skit said that that’s not a weird gap at all which I agreed with and so I went to the comments mostly by accident but I saw that there were actually people in the comments trying to argue that it’s weird for a 19yr old to date a 17 yr old or that it depends on on if the girl is 17 turning 18 or if she had just turned 17. I’ll post a pic down below for reference. Now I’ve had my own fair share of problems dealing with dating I’m a bit older but I do often get girls quit a few years younger then me that take interest. Which I’ve given these girls a shot the gap is bigger then 17 and 19 but I still got some flack for it. But seriously since when did 17/19 become a weird thing they are literally within the same age bracket and the people that argue against these age gaps never make any sense with their arguments cause it’s always contradictory one I’ve heard for bigger age gaps for girls who are 18 dating older guys is that oh just cause it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right and that 18 to 19 is still a child. But then in this context they are fully treating the age of 19 as an adult and saying 17 is a minor which it is but if 19 is still widely considered the age of a child then this gap shouldn’t be an issue. You see what I mean they pick and choose when someone gets to be an adult based on their own agenda and it’s really freakin weird. Makes me wonder what’s gonna happen in future generations ratings already shit just seems like it’s getting worse with these weird age restrictions especially since most girls within that range tend to date up woman in general tend to date guys a great deal older then them from what I seen. My mother and father have a 10 year gap. I don't know maybe I’m crazy.
