Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's Rainbow Flag Rant Gets Flipped Back On Her

Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) got into a flap over the rainbow flag and was fast mocked on Twitter.

Greene took offense to the LGBTQ flag outside the Gaylord Texas Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, during her talk there at a conference hosted by the right-wing college group Turning Point USA.

It was flying next to the Stars and Stripes and the Texas state flag, she said.

“Shame on them. Shame on them. Shame on them for hanging that flag out there. Shame on them,” ranted Greene, who has a history of homophobic rants. “Because it shouldn’t be about what people do sexually that causes us to hang a flag somewhere.”

“The only flags that should ever be hung are our United States flag and a state flag, so shame on the Gaylord,” Greene continued. She told the audience: “I’m surprised one of ya’ll hasn’t shimmied up that flag poll yet and taken it down.”

§8. Respect for flag

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

I have had at least 75 first dates as a result of online dating, and a few were horrible (pictures not current, lied about age, etc.) Most of them weren't that awful, but we just weren't a good match. When I got some experience with rejecting a lady, I eventually decided that the best thing to do was to walk the lady back to her car, no good night kiss, no hug, tell her that I enjoyed meeting her, she seems like a nice lady, but I don't think we're a good match and I wished her good luck with her search. That stopped any expectations from developing and avoided the appearance of misleading her in any way. Maybe that isn't how she wanted to hear that message, but I thought it was better than taking the easy way out by texting or simply not calling her again.

If you were the lady on one of those first dates, how and when would you want that message conveyed to you? If you were the guy, how do you think that message should be delivered?

(Yes, I know that it isn't entirely up to me to decide whether to have a second date; a woman can reject me after the first date, and I have had that experience. Before first date, she was also slow at texting back, maybe from instantaneously to 12h.

But now it takes somewhere up to 24h, or even longer.

If she's slow at responding, so should I?
