She was sure this was where he had disappeared. Sitting her backpack and lantern down, Shadow pushed her thick curly hair from her eyes and looked up through the trees. The moon was a silhouette through hazy clouds above her. "Where the hell are you Zane?" she thought as she shivered slightly. Shadow knew that she wasn't wrong. She had been in the woods the day Zane disappeared two weeks ago. She'd followed him there. He was going to look for his best friend Jackson, who had disappeared two weeks before that. Ironic? Shadow didn't think so. Zane was the 3rd person to disappear from Hillcrest High in the last month and a half. The town was on edge and people were scared.
A twig snapped in the distance tearing her from her thoughts. She turned sharply. "Hello?" she called out. No response. Kneeling to open her backpack, something caught Shadow's eye. It glistened in the lanterns light. She brushed the leaves and dirt away and gasped, jumping back. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up. She shook her head and blinked, not believing what she was looking at. Staring up at her was an eyeball. It was blue with specks of green and hazel. Very familiar. In fact, Shadow had seen it many times before. It belonged to Zane. She looked down at it again and to her surprise, it blinked. Shadow opened her mouth to scream but before any sound could come out she felt a sharp blow to her temple. Then darkness fell around her and she was falling.

It was over a week. And still nothing, why, oh why did she say those things? He just left, for "new territory" what did he mean by that?
Sandy was just devastated, it was a horrible breakup. And of course it was all his fault it always is. But she was just so cruel, she didn't need to say some of those things. But her mouth... sometimes it's just hard to control it. And now he's gone.
Not only out of her life, but the entire town? Maybe he just needed an excuse, she walks by his old house everyday. Just in case.
Very nice! Thank you for participating!
thank you, and you are welcome.
She was sure this was where he had disappeared. She had been running for what seemed like hours, chasing him. He had appeared out of thin air. He lured her in with the calming blue light that surrounded him. He whispered he could make all her dreams come true. He could make her happy. All he needed was a small gift from her. She never expected this peaceful looking being could hurt her. But he took what was most important, and he needed to be found. She found where the small light flickered and vanished. She kneeled down and peered into a hole in the ground. Holding her lantern closer, she gripped her knife and prepared to slide in. First her feet, then her legs, finally the rest. She expected to fall, but it felt like she was sinking in heavy syrup. She couldn't breathe. In the distance, a blue light began to glow.
Who is this creature with the mysterious blue light!
Very intriguing! I'd definitely read more. Thanks for sharing! 😊
