The idea that Germans would fly the Nazi flag to honor their ancestors and because it's part of their history is unthinkable, yet somehow the confederate flag is a debate. Why be proud of a history of slavery?
the only reason this became an issue was because that church killer was seen in a photo with it, I have never heard of anyone having a problem with it before then
All I'm going to say is that often times people who wear the confederate flag aren't even racist. Just show offs. Most racists today are in suits and ties and they act like everyday, white collared, workers.
There are racists of all kinds whether it's rich, middle class, poor, etc. That being said most racism today, compared to the past is subtle. It's not kill (insert racial slur) although that still happens but not as much as it used to.
Just so you guys know, a little historical nugget: by law Confederate veterans are to be considered U. S. veterans, so those who fly it to honor their veteran ancestors actually have a pretty good argument.
The circumstances behind the southern secession and the War for Southern independence were far greater than simply "slavery", partially because slavery represented various other issues involved.
This is a good example of how the winners write history. If the South had won the Civil War, Jefferson Davis and the Confederate flag would have much better reputations today.
The KKK and neo nazi's/original nazi's have been/were known to have/had use/d it as a backup to the white flag and the swastika flag. And we all know what the nazi's and kkk stand for

Did you meet one of those Confederate veterans?
No and I've never met a U. S. veteran of the Civil War either, but people still fly flags to honor their U. S. veterans of the war. What's your point?

That flag is a symbol of treason and is anti American. Which is why I say 'Muricans are not Americans.
This is an important historical memory of the United States. As well as a symbol of the southern states. No Nazism and racism in this symbol.
i disagree.
