Life as a dyslexic person

I am dyslexic and I want to clear some things up so people can gain a bit more insight into what it's like to be dyslexic.

I often see articles such as this that say that someone being dyslexic is mearly a way of justifying your childs low intelligence but I disagree with this.

Due to my dyslexia I have taken a proper IQ test (not one of those 5 minute online ones) and it came out around 135-140. So clearly I'm intelligent but due to my dyslexia I have a lot of trouble getting what I'm thinking out of my head and into a form that other humans can understand. When you're in an exam I read the question know the answer, but I'm incapable to getting my thoughts on paper.

If you don't have dyslexia imagine trying to write an essay but you're not allowed to use certain words, you feel very restricted in how you can express yourself and how you can communicate with other people.

In terms of reading with dyslexia it's very similar to when you're under great pressure and stress. Everyone has had the moment when they have to read something or give a presentation and all the words just vanish and it suddenly becomes hard to read, that is what reading with dyslexia is like.

Now I'm not trying to show off my IQ or try to make people feel sorry for me but I hope that this has given you an insight into what it's like.

If you have any questions just ask and sorry it's laid out badly and structured badly (thats the dyslexia). And grammar nazis I'm sorry if the grammar/spelling isn't perfect :)

Thanks :D
