Dealing with dyslexia as an adult?

I'm 31 years old woman. I have severe learning disabilities. One is dyslexia. Reading is very hard for me. I got professionally tested and my reading level is equivalent to a grade 3 or 4 Level. It's very embarrassing. I practice reading but it will not improve much. Sometimes I go to thrift stores and buy a kids chapter book.. like the bfg by Roald Dahl. junie b jones books or books like pony pals and try to read them myself. If anyone asks i say its for my neice or nephew. I feel very ashamed and incredibly stupid. Am I the only one who does this?
