Confusion about being mixed

I saw a question which inspired me to write this take! and also one day ago or so i was talking about this issue to someone...Well... i wanted to say how it really feels like to be a mixed race kid. Some people will be able to relate to what am trying to say here.

Am sure most mixed race people have faced this question from people : "what are you?" .This happens because people are confused about you because of your traits.

People are like always trying to guess about your ethnicity -_- they're like "oh wait, you're........?? or you're......?? "

Many mixed race kids and their siblings do not look alike....its just...how it is :/

To me what seems really ignorant to me is when people say things about the way you act like for example: "You are a girl from ...... race,why do you act like people from.....race when its not the way you should act??" i mean c'mon; there's no precise way people should act according to their ethnic belonging...people have been socialized in a particular way and are free to act as they wish...its not hurting anyone!! >:(

And yes, even mixed race people feel lost at times cause we're not really sure where we belong :'( :'(

I'm mixed black and Latina (my father is Ethiopian and my mother is Colombian ) growing up I felt so out of place because I didn't "fit in" in school I wasn't "black enough to be with th black kids" and my skin wasn't light enough to hang out with the latinos, and too often saw myself lonely when I was a kid I hate it but now days people are more used to see interracial marriages so there are more biracial kids when I grew up there weren't... but it's really annoying when people ask me if I think I'm Latina or black? I always answer the same thing I'll say "I'm just human'' and they smirk i hope kids in this generation realized skin or race is not really important what is important is your integrity and your position in the world.

I do agree with that last statement about us getting lost because we don't know where we belong. I've had those feelings as well. I hear people talk about mixed race people like we're boogie or think we're all that because we're mixed, but it's actually not true, because it's actually a struggle to figure out what we are, what we're supposed to be, and where we belong. Other ppl's two sense kind of play a roll in the struggle as well. It's nice to be mixed because there is a uniqueness to it, but that doesn't mean it's all butterflies and rainbows.

I have Never been Prejudice in my whole life, @zombiebabe. I have Never Put Any ONE person in a certain Group nor looked at Them Differently.. I Mix with everyone. I even have married a muslim man Out Egypt and blended well with them as well.
However, in this Day in age, especially Now, it just gets worse. But the only thing I DO have a problem with is because of ISIS and knowing what they are, where they are and what they are up up to, I do Not believe that we should let all of the Immigrants Into this country, no one can be trusted.
People who Feel "Where do I fit in?" It's because Other people who Point fingers and are Prejudice, make Someone feel that they are A... Misfit.

I hate when people go crazy over mixed kids. It's really creepy, like they expect some godly looking being to pop out of my womb. I just want a healthy baby free of other people's expectations :/

I'm mixed my parents both identify as African American and both acknowledge non black ancestry and I am asked what I am all the time. So by your definition yes I am mixed. I have been mistaken for mexican or latina by other races and to me it is not a big deal.

I could never understand why some mixed people are so sensitive about being mistaken for another race

That pretty much happens when one looks racially ambiguous

I told a guy on here @phoinex98 he does not look white to me and he did not whine or complain he just responded, I know right

What offended me was when this black girl assumed my dad was white because I talk properly

People think my dad is white all the time because of my high light skin color and facial features but it's not a big deal

Aww... i think you just belong to the melting pot of mixed babies. :)
Which is a mixture of both your cultures. I think mixed is difficult to explain cause it could be from any culture/ethnicity. Mixed needs to be a new ethnicity! As the world collides more and people move/travel, meet with mixed people, the bigger the melting pot and that needs to start being acknowledged as a race.
So where do you belong? To the mixed cultured :)
