Great myTake for your very first one, I enjoyed reading it.
Holy shit the whale has landed. Ironic she's in a swimsuit considering she probably coulden't swim 2 laps in a pool.
This fat acceptance must stop. Trying to make laziness and lack of exercise attractive is pathetic.
#nofatchicks
Even though I disagree with your main point on this myTake, I have to say that you presented your point of view in a very effective and well written piece of content.
Except her forgets to mention beauty is subjective. He also has no evidence to support his claim that Marisa Miller "worked hard" for her body. For all we know, she is thin because she starves herself, does drugs, or just naturally thin.
This makes me think "Project Harpoon" was a good idea.

I don't agree that this girl is fat but I do agree, that it shouldn't be fucking mandatory to have some larger girls I'm your magazine just because some feminazis rage about skinny girls.
It's not mandatory at all, it just one magazine that did one time and he's bitching about that. There are dozens of other magazines to pick up that have skinny women on them, but no, he has to bitch about this one
@nalaa i just feel like people want to push "skinny" girls in the socially undesireable area, cause the "unrelaistic body immage" and instead promote chubby girls as the only socially acceptable thing.
i personally like both body types so i don´t really care what is depicted in magazines but i think we should care to promote a healthy standard. if he´s picking on the magazine because it chose to show a somewhat chubby chick, then i don´t agree with him.
I agree we should promote a healthy standard, which is why I think there should be less underweight models on the covers.
I don't know where you see much pushing, but look at the magazines, most months you will not be able to find one that has a woman at the upper end of normal, like her. So I don't know why this guy decided to bitch about the one that did
@nalaa it´s mainly in the media in open discussions about the topic. not actually done by most magazines.
but i can understand the argument, that models work their asses off to lookin top shape to be on the covers and they choose a normal weight girl. you don´t have to work hard to look like this so you don´t earn it to be on the front page.
i don´t agree with the statement but i understand the logic of the argument.
I get how it can make sense at first glance but it's not thought through to the end.
@nalaa i think we should just stop comparing ourself so much with others. people allways assume that guys only like girls that look like the ones on the covers... when in fact most guys don´t care so much. i mean obviously both ends of the extreme spectrum :fat and scrawny won´t be liked by many but everything in between will find a lot of appreciation, no matter what´s on the magazines.
@nalaa
"There are dozens of other magazines to pick up that have skinny women on them"
Are most of the magazines with excessively skinny women (Vogue, Haparz Bazarr, Elle, etc..) marketed primarily towards women?
@Bandit74 Yes, because I think most magazines are for women. I can only think of a handful of men's magazines. But most of those men's magazines have skinny women on the cover as well. Conclusion most magazines have skinny women on the cover, regardless of what gender they're aimed at
@nalaa
But would you agree the women on the covers of the womens magazines like Vogue and Haparz are generally much skinnier than the women on the cover of mens magazines?
"There are dozens of other magazines to pick up that have skinny women on them, but no, he has to bitch about this one"
Personally I dont pay buy any magazines, but as you said most magazines are marketed towards women so I think what irritated the takeowner is that SI is considered one of the few magazines that was targeted towards men and they have chosen women for the cover for political reasons rather than what its target demographic wants to see.
Why not use one of the many womens magazines like vogue to support body positity.
@Bandit74
"But would you agree the women on the covers of the womens magazines like Vogue and Haparz are generally much skinnier than the women on the cover of mens magazines? " no, not at all. The only difference is that the ones in men's magazines usually have bigger boobs, but that's about it. More often than not, they're the same women
I don't think they did it for political reasons really, that's quite an assumption really. They've always provoked with their covers and I think they choose three unconvential women for their cover to stand out. And as you can tell from this thread, it worked.
They're also not the first company to do that. The pirelli calendar this year decided to highlight women who have major accomplishments aside from their looks. Maybe people are just getting a little tired of the always similar looking, white, blonde girls on covers. Well apparently not all people, but some
@nalaa
@nalaa
Really?
I agree theyre both skinny but I think the women in those high fashion magazines are more likely to be skinnier.
Well maybe its both. They wanted to appeal to the body positivity movement and attract more attraction to their magazine. There are guys who will gind Ashley attractive but as far as mass appeal I believe there are other girls who would have appealed to a larger group of people.
The girls on the cover were presumably chosen by the editors of the magazine. However, Sports illustrated has a title called "Rookie of the Year" (https://www. si. com/swimsuit/rookie-of-the-year) where the audience gets to vote for who THEY THINK was the most attractive girl. Id be willing to bet Ashley Grahm (the cover girl) will not get yhe most votes.
I do agree, tan blondes are getting boring. I wouldn't mind seeing some more Asians and latinas.
Do you think the girl I posted in my opinion represents an unhealthy body type?
@Bandit74 Barbara Palvin? Well ya she's just another underweight VS model. Maybe she's a lot closer to a healthy BMI than some models but still a full point below it. So I'm gonna have to say no, she's not a healthy ideal
Though I remember reading an interview that she lost a lot of weight or gained a lot of weight or something like that, so I don't know if those stats are quite correct.

The second two pics def look a lot healthier to me than the first two and I think she's at the lower end of healthy there and that's ok. It seems she is struggling with her weight though, so I wouldn't really say a good role model
@nalaa oh hell yeah xD the secon 2 are way more sexy.
In fact, I think some people would call her fat in the second set of pictures
@nalaa
Well I dont think any model is a role model, they just take thsir clothes off for a living. As far as attractiveness I think her body in the bottom two pictures is perfect 😍. The first two picture were from like 2010/2011.
"lower end of healthy" 😱
What do you consider the ideal range of healthy and what would be an example of upper range of healthy?
@Bandit74 well going by BMI from 18,5 to 24,5. I'm sure she's not heaver than a bmi of 19, so that would put her at the lower end of the healthy range.
And as I explained in my answer Ashley graham as a BMI of 24, which would put her at the upper end of the healthy range.
And it's really not just a personal opinion
@nalaa bmi is not really reliable. my mother for example was allways underweight in terms of bmi but looked healthy, not even particularly slim.
i in turn was allways slightly above the "normal" bmi but as a guy that happens easily as soon as you have some muscles. muslces are heavier than fat.
sorry but that's bs, other than for competitive athletes BMI has been shown to be a good indicator.
Of course not everyone is the same and it depends on body composition but what is seen as healthy is actually quite a wide range.
For example if you're a 5'4 girl your healthy range would be from 104lbs to 143 lbs. If you're a 5'10 guy you could be between 128 and 172 lbs. That's quite a lot of wiggle room and it's quite fair to say to be at an ideal healthy weight you should be somewhere in between.
Bodyfat would be more accurate sure, but it doesn't mean that BMI is a bad measure. I'm quite athletic as well which is why I've never been at the lower bounds of my range but always within it. Despite competitive sports. But as I said for competitive athletes, it's an exception, but for most of us it's a pretty good measure
@nalaa i´m just saying just because you´re one or two points below or above, that doesn´t automatically look fat or underweight.
*that doesn´t automatically mean you look fat or underweight
not automatically, but more often than not, yes it does.
@nalaa i´ve just seen a lot of examples that were below or above that i thought look perfectly good.
Well I've made the point several times that most people have no idea what healthy looks like. Evidence by all the guys liking significantly underweight models.
In the UK they have this show called supersize vs. superskinny. All episodes are on youtube and whenever there is an underweight, young, woman most commentators say they didn't think she looked underweight at all.
And we know she is not healthy because a doctor checks her out and she tells us what she eats which is close to nothing
@nalaa yeah i know most guys like unreasonable skinny girls. i don´t know why though xD
Alright I was expecting you to say something stupid but how can you call that girl fat.
Fat = Overweight. According to her BMI, she is overweight.
@Hannah591 Besides how flawed bmi charts are to begin with. You have no life what so ever to pay attention to another girls height weight and wrist size?
Marisa miller is too old compared to Ashley Graham.
Unless diabetes, over eating, and heart disease are a sport, this shouldn't be allowed, and I hope they lose a ton of money from this garbage.
If it's bothering you then just watch some porn. I'm sure you can find the skinny bitches you like on just about any porn site.
They aren't necessarily "skinny bitches"'. I'm a big woman and I dont enjoy being judged by my body or looks. So I can only assume thin women feel the same. Besides, using that kind of phrasing just makes you look angry and bitter. You may as well wear a neon sign that screams "Im a big, fat, angry chick!" It makes you come across as weak and immature. And this is coming from a chick that weighs 269 lbs. Take it from me, let the thin girls be thin and you do your thing and good things will happen. I used to feel like you seem to but one day I decided I wouldn't care what people thought. I'd be nice to whoever was nice to me regardless of size or shape, etc. I never felt the least bit sexy when I was young. To me, a "good" pic was one where I didn't look TOO terrible. Finally I decided to ignore any negativity and just recreate myself. I cut off my ass length hair to the nape of my neck. I bleached it blonde, and dyed it streaks of purple, green, blue, pink... Whatever I feel like every
4 weeks or so when I do my hair and nails. I lost about 90lbs (was 345lbs at my heaviest). Bought some sexy lingerie for the first time ever, and became a bbw webcam model. And you know the guys on the cam site tell me? I'm not fat enough 😂 I can't win lol. Luckily for me I stopped playing long ago.:D
First of all Barbara Palvin killed, dunno why she been get hate tbh
2nd, society will forever be ruled by the internet so deal with it.
These people have more impact than the average schmoes tbh and being plus size has been a trend last few years
She's not fat though, she is curvy. And as far as "accomplishments" go, if all you have "accomplished" is your appearance... you need to rethink your life.
Let's try the glove on the other hand: What would girls think if media/society started telling girls they should like fat, hairy guys with comb overs and beer guts and that they're shallow and evil if they don't.
Because she is fat, hair, and has a combover and a beer gut?
How exactly are those two things relatable at all, whatsoever?
I could take you seriously if you said telling girls they should like guys without muscle and a bit of extra weight. Because that's all she is. She is not fat and there is nothing wrong with her. She is overweight, probably by 10-20 lbs, but she is not obese. She doesn't even have any rolls anywhere on her body... she is just a thicker woman, but not thick enough to have rolls, which is how you know that someone doesn't eat healthy or work out.
And you know what, for the average girl, guys that have extra weight on them and aren't super muscular are perfectly fine! But the average girl is not what those guys want. They want the smoking hot bod girls, who likewise want smoking hot guys.
As a plus sized girl I would love to have my ass on SI swim suit edition. So what is the problem?
If you consider having a small waist big hips thick thighs and a nice stomach then you most likely need your eyes checked.
The weight area... women's insecurity area... oh no you didn't bro. Run for the hills. Well same goes to men with height issues. Enjoy your issues hha. \^_^\ YOLO... Yes... I said... YO.. LO... and yes... it IS 2016...
While I do agree with the take, I found your perception of big and skinny to be rather off. I didn't find that SI model to be overweight at all, let alone a "whale."
English major? Your first sentence was a complete run on, grab that piece of paper and tear it up.
However bad this my_take was the comments had me laughing. xD
I will certainly say you don't speak for me.
