Chances are some point in your life you will be invited to a fancy schmancy dinner party. You may ask: What do I wear, How do I know which fork to use?, and What topics should I avoid? Well my friends you have come to the right mytake. Today we are going over some dinner party do's and don'ts. Follow these tips and be the belle or the gentleman of the dinner party.
Do's:
Always dress nice.
@Ginnyweasley97 asked a good question about what to wear at a dinner party earlier. Guys, this is your opportunity to dress like a sharp dressed man. I would suggest wearing a suit and tie, or a dress shirt, tie, and.nice slacks. The shirt and slacks should be free of wrinkles and holes. Always wear dressy shoes.
Ladies, this is your chance to be the belle of the ball. Wear a dress or a nice blouse and skirt. Do not wear anything low cut or too short because it is considered to be inappropriate. If chilly weather occurs I suggest wearing tights or leggings to keep your legs covered. Wear high heels or flats. Keep jewelry to a minimum.
Know your spoons and forks.

Always put the napkin in your lap.
Always answer respectfully whenever someone asks you a question. It is only respectful to answer the host or any dinner party attendee when you are being addressed.
Always try all food on your plate. This is also very respectful to the host showing that you take interest in the meal.
Gentlemen, if a lady excuses herself to freshen up always stand up as she gets up to leave the room. Likewise do the same as she re-enters the room.
Always thank the host and hostess for inviting you and for throwing the dinner party. This will keep you on the good list for a long time to come.
Now let's get to the don'ts, shall we?
First of all do not eat like a pig or slurp your soup or drinks . This is highly ill mannered and unappreciated to your host.
Avoid talking about taboo topics such as sex, religion, politics, and sports. Also watch your language when you speak. Here is a clip from The Nuttty Professor to show you the wrong way.
Do not burp or pass gas at the table. This is extremely rude and childish. Here is Cletus Klump to provide an example.
So, yeah, don't break gas or laugh too loud at a dinner party. It will save you from choking and embarrassment.
So in a nutshell those are some basic tips to follow if you're invited to a fancy dinner party. If you are lucky enough to go have fun and remember to still be yourself, but follow etiquette.
