So I don't want to make a huge deal about this cause it happened, it's over with and I don't really care about it anymore. But this is only to warn people so they aren't put in the same situation that I was put in.

catfishing is a thing.

it comes in different shapes and forms, but you should NEVER trust anyone you meet online, especially a site like this, where it's so easy to lie.

i unfortunately experienced this, however it was different than what I expected. I watch catfish the tv show and usually it ends up as the person hiding was either obese or hideous.

Therefore, the first question when you meet someone attractive online is:"is this what this person actually looks like?"

Once you know that they look like their picture, you get to talking and you develop a form of trust. It's good to trust, but it's important to realize it is very possible the everything could be a lie. Some people are just compulsive liars. They can't help it.

Anyways, the person I thought I was talking to for 2 months, was not real.

Physically he was, but he lied about everything else.

so just be careful when you're talking to people online. People use the Internet to escape reality, and live a separate life than the one they're bored with.

I watch that show and I think its a great warning to people out there. The internet is a great way to talk to different people but you dont know exactly who you are talking to. Is it the hottie in the photo? Is what they are saying true? Its easy to lie online.

Yeah, internet is dangerous and the outside world is same as dangerous in a different way. Using internet for so long gives you like a six sense, for the way someone respond to you, the profile pic and all of that stuff you just feel that vibe that tells you if it's true or false.

I know I am probably fairly trusting (if not gullible) person, so I have to probably need to work on not immediately trusting people. It's all too easy to see someone hold a sign of a name or prove their physical appearance and then believe everything they say after that (if it isn't too farfetched naturally).

This myTake certainly creates an interesting thought /situation-- lying about their life while having a real appearance. It's kind of scary stuff.

The downside is also when you see someone online and you actually want to be friends with them. To do so, you have to have a certain amount of trust, but with catfishes it makes it difficult.
