18 Wedding "Cakes" for the Couples Who Don't Care for Tradition

Personally, I would prefer an alternative wedding cake. While wedding cakes look very pretty, they have so much frosting that they taste terrible. Even if there is a little bit of frosting on a piece of cake, I will scrape it off before I eat it. To me, frosting is basically clumpy sugar butter. This is also a great way to save money. Couples tend to spend a ton of money on the cake, just for it to not be eaten. Even though a picture of a gorgeous wedding cake is Instagram totally worthy.

3. These are called naked cakes. They're basically cakes that have no frosting. Instead they're decorated with fruit.

6. This is a wedding cheese wheel. It's so Dutch to have a cheese wheel instead of a wedding cake, I love it.

7. Instead of a regular sized cake, each piece is a mini cake of its own.

8. Dessert table for the picky eaters, those with allergies, or are undecided.

9. Donuts for the guests, mini cake for the bride and groom.

I do like the naked cake, the mini cakes, the and the mini cheescakes but I want to have strawberry shortcake parfaits at my wedding. I want a really simple wedding outside with a few really important people. The parfaits are super simple, super cheap, and super delicious. Plus I can make them myself and save tons of money.

The Crape cake, naked cake, wedding pie, desert table, are a good idea.

The thing about the mini cake (or any of the mini options really) is that you COULD run out if you have a large wedding. Hopefully there are extras (not on the "cake") for everyone else. Same goes for the lemon (hopefully chocolate is an option) mousse.

You're making me thing that I need to go and work out just looking at these.

Yes, that crossed my mind a few times. Especially with the truffles. If you have a 100 guests, you shouldn't order just a 100 truffles. I guarantee no one is going to want just one. Even though, I bet the truffles are delicious.

Some great ideas here, but some of them I'm not sure the guests would roll with it happily.
"Now here's a slice of cheese for you", so they will either fondue it, eat it with a barbecued sausage or take it home? Haha.

I think the mini dessert is such a good idea, and the pies, cheesecakes, and cakes are so cute in the pictures you posted. It'd be a great way for people to have a good serving and maybe also get the variety they want :)

In Saudi Arabia, we make a wedding cake and have a big table of 10+ desserts, cakes, pies and anything sweet.
